@Borgleader
Yes but the Cell is not a CPU like the x86 we use normally either. It is somewhat similar to a GPU.

At least they are already way more powerful than a cell processor of the PS3.

I wouldn't make a cube around the basement, but rather a huge exitportal-dome around the parts which should be hit by the light.

You could also simply split the ray in two with equal power. The one going through the wall should of course only interfere with the camera and nothing else.

But if it is single sided, the camera would look through the wall from one side, and from the other it would look normal. Depending on from which side the light comes from. The "inner" or the "outer" side of the room wall.

There is a script built into Blender that does that. Select the Objects, click on "Object" next to "Object mode" button and go to Scripts. Its named "Randomize Loc Size Rot". There you can set the maximum amount of change (for example 90 in rotation means up to +-90 degrees) and the axis to use it on.

You should get a virtualization software, so you can test something without crashing your system.

It may be also, because of the size of most emmiters. While you would see the glowing wire of a light bulb in sun light, a totally scattering bulb (where you can't see the inside) would appear much darker, because the same energy is spread over a greater area. Most light bulbs I seen are rather latt...

The Phenom has seperate L2 caches for every core + a big L3 core which all cores share. The Intel quadcores (at least the older 65nm ones, but afaik they didn't change this for the newer 45nm chips) consist of two dualcores. Each Dualcore has a shared L2 cache. But this isn't that important, because...

Actually 4,5 times scaling is not impossible. If you render an image, there are different tasks done besides rendering, for example tonemapping and saving the image. If you assume this takes 33% of the rendertime on a single core, then a dualcore would be not twice, but 2.66 times as fast. This is b...

It does get direct light, as you can see a sharp shadow on the fridge. Also the window is reflected in the microwave. It seems to have shutters, which probably let the light bounce a lot around before reaching the actual scene seen by the camera.

Sry, its not possible. But you can let Blender draw the parts taken from a texture with one UVset onto an other texture using a second UVset.
