yup, and as veach notes in his bible-thesis, if we use only one method then we should choose the more robust one. 20-30% slower convergence in simple scenes is a tiny price to pay for seamlessly handling brutal sampling situations. this is why commercial rendering engines might like to use it, and w...

they have reflected caustics converging in reasonable time, which is a good indication for metropolis-based methods.

Switching to a 64bit Windows isn't that easy though, right? well, i just put the cd in the drive :) that was like 3/4 years ago, since then i've upgraded this computer almost completely 3 times, and it still works for days and nights, months at a time, without any problems. i've never once applied ...

I've done a little comparison. interesting results, thanks :) 73 MHz faster FSB is way faster than 100 MHz faster CPU. Wouldn't have expected that. well, if one looks at the speedup obtained in the 64bit version due to decreased register pressure (and therefore decreased memory activity) then it fa...

a luminance output from violet would be very simple. that's what i said, but it seems what is desired isn't the luminance itself but a false-colour image of the luminance. BTW, luminance is nothing more than a weighted average of the RGB values that's the easiest way to get the low dynamic range to...

Or just klick here ! :D ;) thank you! And for the scenes, just give us some infos about the file format that you would like to have, ... OBJ, 3DS, Indigo XML ... what ever. Just let us know. i was a bit unclear in my post, actually talking about two issues; the first is that indigo needs a r...
