Re: One more reason to look forward to Win7

@ne0 Quoting marketing material is pointless. Here is the introduction to OpenCL from the Apple developer library. It will explain exactly what Open CL is for you as it is aimed at developers and not marketing hype for consumers. OpenCL (Open Computing Language) is an open standard for leveraging t...

Re: One more reason to look forward to Win7

OpenCL isn´t a property of Apple, instead is an Open Consortium Thanks Juan, this was my original point in this thread. I was asking why, when open cross platform standards already exist, Microsoft insists on creating and pushing upon developers it's own proprietary systems which encourages single ...

Re: One more reason to look forward to Win7

as much as Vista has it's flaws I still liked it I have to agree that whilst many were bashing Vista I was quite happy with it when compared to XP in fact I actually prefer the look of vista to windows 7. 7 seems to have become almost toyish in appearance whereas I felt vista had a good balance bet...

Re: One more reason to look forward to Win7

ne0 you really need to know what you are talking about before you go ranting on about crap. OpenCL was introduced with SL yes, I never said anything different. OpenCL has nothing to do with GPU acceleration of the UI or previously implemented GPU acceleration systems of a non display related nature ...

Re: One more reason to look forward to Win7

By the way, if any mac users here are interested in pixelmator you can get it for US$49 if you enter the coupon code MACMANIA before checking out. US$49 for a realtime image editor is not bad (this coming from an owner of Adobe Production Premium CS4). I really like that you can use your own Image U...

Re: One more reason to look forward to Win7

Windows 7 (as in the OS itself) is gpu accelerated. How can I make this any clearer, PureSpider? I wasn't talking about 3rd party apps, but rather the OSs UI. So again, way to jump the gun. Mac OS X has a fully GPU accelerated UI and has had for quite some time. Linux has had the option for a GPU a...

Re: One more reason to look forward to Win7

lack of innovation. Copying (with questionable skill) a base interface look from one place and much base functionality from another is not innovation; it is called playing "catch up". The only feature in Win 7 I can't trace back to another existing system is window shaking and I could see myself ha...

Re: One more reason to look forward to Win7

Why can't Microsoft just stop trying to control everything. They can't handle not having control of OpenGL...they create DirectX. Can't handle not having control of OpenCL...they create DirectCompute. Cross platform development hell courtesy of Microsft. The computing world would be so much simpler ...

Re: frog eats bug

That's a really sweet image :) The lighting is gorgeous and the subtle motion blur on the fly wings is excellent. It may not look exactly real, but the look it has works regardless. Very nice.

Re: About 10 Indigo lifetime licences left

I see the front page stills says 20 licenses. Ben, I hope you realise that if you receive any orders while the home page is still saying that amount that you will obliged to provide a lifetime license regardless of whether the magic 100 have been sold or not.

Re: About 10 Indigo lifetime licences left

Hi, I have started using the demo version of Indigo like 10 days ago and I am pretty impressed so far. I am in the rendering business (mainly architectural visualization) since '94 and have been working with differrent cad/modeling programs (starting with Autocad back in '88) and only recently star...

Re: About 10 Indigo lifetime licences left

Just a random thing, but in my opinion you guys shouldn't raise the price very much (or at all), when the Lifetime licenses are sold out. Right now, one of Indigo's major selling points (if not it's biggest) is the low price compared to other unbiased renderers. I'm inclined to agree with that noti...
