Just read the review on ArsTechnica of Spore.

Disappointing.

Not that I was going to buy a DRMed piece of shit like that anyway (I can still play XCOM today, in a DOSBOX - can you do that with Spore 15 years from now?)

The amount of power each light has is realistic - the sun is exponentially more powerful than a typical meshlight.
Increase your meshlight power by quite a bit.

Holy shit, I know that magazine. ...not in an academic sense, though. Last job I worked at sold immunoassays (I worked in marketing, so I'm familiar with the industry magazines) And I did some protein renders as well as concepts for some ads.. but there's not much to show (just looks like squiggly l...

...

Background color is equal light from all sides.

Please post your scene (simplified, if you want), I'm sure you're just missing something silly.

You modelled an object, now model a scene around it that matches where you would expect to see it. I.E. A laboratory. Toss things that you'd usually see in that setting in: leak catchers (cotton things you put down, kinda like a diaper, when working with vials), a sharpie for marking dates and IDs o...

Big: the luxrender exporter has a scroll bar implementation that works pretty well, i'd take a look at that.

Sunlight is not flat at all!

You're seeing a "spotlight" effect because of tonemapping and to a lesser extent lens falloff.

For "flat" lighting (equally lit from all sides) use Background Color as the environment settings.

Ex: Are you sure you want to know about this word (your query) ? Weren't you looking for that one (Google's choice) ? WTF CTZn? You realize that's just their spelling suggestion algorithm, right? They're not secretly telling you to go somewhere else. Even if your query is spelled correctly, the alg...

This browser will probably get me to switch from Opera as soon as we get some extensions for it...

There are a few bugs I've noticed - text goes missing in text boxes sometimes (after a soft-break), the tab titles and icons aren't always correct for their contents, favicons won't work on some sites.

tanner: I think you're not having enough patience to wait for the export to happen, neither of the "errors" you're complaining about are actual errors - the scene.getcamera thing is just a warning, and same thing with the nonuniform scaling text. Try just letting it export - it will be quite obvious...

Well, it's not just Safari, QT4 embeds webkit, some other projects use it too.

I'm sad there isn't a Linux build yet :(
