Nope, just used the one image, although I did create an exponent map from the original for specular reflections. You can control the depth of the atmosphere by changing the number of samples the blur uses.

Hi neo0, I did something similar here: http://www.vimeo.com/1785327 I used a real satellite image (MODUS data) for the texture. I then used Blender's composite nodes to blur the image and composite it behind the original to create the atmosphere. I think I also color corrected the blur to be more bl...

Hi Grimm, right now the shaders can only access the hit position in world space, and the UV coordinates at the hit position. I'll likely add access to the geometric and shading normals in the future. I'm not sure about allowing access to the incident ray, there are some issues with such access. Coo...

Thanks guys! It's been a learning experience. :) suvakas - Yes fully rendered in Indigo. It probably would have been better to just have rendered it in Blender or like you said do a simple 2D pan and zoom, but I wanted to see how Indigo would handle it. There is a slight rotation of the earth althou...

Wow!! Thanks Ono. I hope to have some time to try out all of the new shader functions but it may not be soon. :( I have been very busy and I'm in the process of purchasing a new house, so no time to do fun stuff. I did have one question, could you tell us what Indigo can pass to the shader function?...

The first part of the animated intro is finished. Right now it's just a 20 second sequence of flying over the earth in space. Later I plan on compositing the spaceship onto the earth sequence. I rendered it with Indigo v1.1.9 on 4 nodes with a total of 7 cores. It took around 8 days to render after ...

Ok, here is another test. It's looking better but I don't think I'm going to do much more to it. Next is animating it. :) http://www.frostyfoot.com/images/intro-test2.png Also for those who are interested here are the storyboards for this little project. http://www.frostyfoot.com/images/storyboard1-...

I also have this problem: Fatal Error: IndigoDriverExcep: SceneLoaderExcep: ModelLoadingStreamHandlerExcep: UV set with index 1 was exposed, but the UV set data was not provided. (In element 'mesh', around line 7464, column 5) I opened the igs file and there's actually no *uv1* line.. I had a simil...

Thanks crojack, That's a good idea for the kids. But, no, the ship will land and chaos will ensue. I should post my story board. I have been learning how to make movies and everything that is involved. I'm just now, after about 8 months of studying, getting parts of this figured out. Not to mention ...

Another animation test WIP

My first animation test went well enough for me to try and tackle another one. This will be an intro to a short I'm working on with my kids. No animation yet, hopefully soon, but here is a first test image. I used some MODIS data of Alaska from my work (I work for a university satellite data clearin...

Well here is the animation. Not very happy with it, but it's a start. I wasn't able to use the EXR output because of the filenames so I went with the regular PNG files. I was playing with the tone mapping so they came out really over exposed. Instead of re-rendering I thought I would at least see wh...

And...how do you....map a procedural? I mean, in the 3d editor, how do you map the fbm? I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "map" the fbm, but I will take a stab at it. :) Fbm's are just random noise so you don't really know what you are getting until you render an image. You can adjust the textu...

Ok, I'm pretty happy with this one. I have included the material for people to play with if they wish. And Ono can laugh at my code. http://www.frostyfoot.com/images/skull5.png <material>
<diffuse> <albedo> <shader> <shader> def eval(vec3 pos) vec3 : vec3( abs(su...
