Re: August Competition - Modernism
I've found that JPEG @ 100% quality is usually a lot smaller than PNG's.. and there is no noticeable difference in quality. Even a JPEG @ 70 or 80% quality still looks damn good, but can be as little as 30 or 20% the size of an equivalent PNG. The one exception is black and white images or images wi...

Re: Highrise Apartment
Updated renders without rug + a few more minor tweaks. @ dcm MLT on the full render, GPU BiDir on the chair closeup. ~ 65 hours for the full render (Was clear at about 15 hours, but I needed to tone down the noise on the shelves) I don't remember the render time on the closeup, but it was much short...

We've always said that Octane and such 'unbiased' renderers were biased - no?

Re: Simplifying render resuming
Every time I try to resume a render, I have to select two files... The IGI and the IGS.. Why not just have a single file that contains both the scene settings and the scene itself. Plus, it is often impossible to determine which IGI I want. In most cases, adding the IGI to the .IGS or .PIGS file wo...

Re: Mac vs Win Build Benchmark = 170% faster on Mac O_o
2.4.7-
4m 16s, 410.41 SPP, 420k S/S
2.4.8
4m 13s, 271.30 SPP, 280k S/S
Not really a noticeable difference in noise, but some weird artifacts appeared on the 2.4.8 (And some artifacts disappeared from the 2.4.7 version).
Run on Windows 7 using a 3.38 Ghz Quad-core (Intel Q6700).

Could you send the scene to me? I have a similar processor to the one you used in your test (4 x 3.4Ghz) and I'm running windows.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
Yes it would be nice if that bug was addressed...
I re-rendered my this old scene. The scale in the old image was off so that the diamond was ~10cm in height
This one uses a correct (or at least more realistic) scale.
