Very nice tests Ryjo. One thing to watch out for, is that in the paper, when it says C_m = 0.5% (melanin fraction of 0.5%), then the actual fraction as required by Indigo is 0.005 (e.g. half a percent) Yeah, I did a fair share of mistakes during development of the scene, but I think I got it right ...

Yes, that's better^^ But: What are these edges in the skin? Is it, 'cause you didn't render it as long as before, this time? Do you mean the patterns visible on the forehead? Those are more visible the longer the render goes, this has rendered about 20 mins longer. It is a low res model, ~55000 ver...

You're right: except of the swollen ears and eyes, it looks too perfect. No idea, where you can get a bump map. 50 min? how much GHz&RAM? It's a core 2 duo (6600) with 2 GB ram. Here is a render using more asian skin tone (see page 7 in the spec). The teeth look more white now. The camera setting i...

Maybe, the thickness is wrong at the eyelids, since they are very thin. Also the Eyes may give an other SSS value... But it looks quite realsistc, nevertheless... Yes, the thicknes of epidermis is 0.25 mm for the entire figure, which is too much for the eyelids. But its a test. The skin tone was ta...

I don't know why the teeth are yellow, they are defined to be diffuse white. Maybe reflection from the skin? The scene is illum...

A good way to start indigo is to use
This works on Win XP. It will put the indigo process in a lower scheduling class ("below normal") so the pc doesn't run so slowly for other processes.
Code: Select all
start /belownormal indigo.exe -t 2 scene.xml

The '-t' should go on the command line, like this:
... where 'scene.xml' is the scene to render.
You can also change the default setting in infile.txt:
Code: Select all
indigo.exe -t 2 scene.xml
You can also change the default setting in infile.txt:
Code: Select all
"num_threads" "2"

So if I understand I should first multiply Sigma and Beta with a concentration factor. For example, if I want a 100% merlot concentration, I should multiply the value with 15,3, ist this right? I think that the concentration values are given as a reference (to repeat the experiment). The other valu...
