Re: Help With Rendering Basic Knowledge
I will start by saying that you should update to 3.8 immediately. There are some significant speedups there, especially on architectural glass. I'm sure others will chime in with more suggestions, but it probably is down to the scene not being optimized for rendering. If you don't mind, you can shar...

Re: Lights too bright
You are most likely rendering using Reinhardt tone mapping (Auto exposure). Use camera profiles or linear mode.

Re: "Advanced" WIPs
Hahaha, you guys are cracking me up!
As for the rendering, I think the foliage is spot on, and as Pibuz said, less grass/more sky would help. Maybe a slight angle to show the depth of the building could bring some more interest as well.

Estimated rendering time
So I was wondering if it would be possible to show the estimated rendering time based on set SSP limit.
Example:
I set the goal SSP at 1000. My scene renders at around 20ssp/m. Estimated rendering time = 50 minutes.
It could be dynamic based on average s/s and displayed in the bottom bar (attached).

Re: bad renders... :(
I'm sure other people will chime in with more details, but at first glance, your color values are too high. "Desaturate" the colors by about 25% in sketchup, before you render. Realism comes from imperfections very often. Adding more uneven surface textures for bump maps will go a long way.

Re: Database Down?
I still can't seem to upload materials, the upload counter goes to 100% then the attached files just disappear and nothing happens... Is this just me or is there an issue with the website? Not sure if related, but I could not access online materials from IndigoRT earlier today. Any search comes up ...

Re: Picture quality ?
That behavior has not just started with Maverics and as already mentioned in the System Settings -> Energy Saver you can set different times for when the Computer goes to sleep and when the Display go to sleep. The settings are intuitive and self-explanatory Id venture to say. If you don't mind you...

Re: Picture quality ?
This might be a quite unorthodox answer but here goes: If you're on Mavericks, the system will stop rendering after an hour or two once you leave the computer alone. That's even with the Indigo app selected. Mavericks is strict when it comes to power savings. I experienced the same thing a few days ...
