Re: Indigo Renderer 3.8.13 Beta Release

So far, this is fantastic... fast and responsive, free of bugs.

I like the new spectrum editor!

Re: Adding a new function for making a portable SketchUp fil

Part of the issue with transporting sketchup files is the lack of file information provided for materials (and components). Badly named component instances, groups, hidden items, extra material attributes set in skindigo, duplicate items with tiny changes to each (or just file name changes), badly s...

Re: SkIndigo 3.8.9.1

Excellent! Thanks! I only use diffuse for asphalt, tree bark and tyres. Almost everything in sketchup (typical interior and exterior scenes and objects) will be component-based, and the components should contain material settings for metal car wheels, etc. For terrain, even the grass and dirt might ...

Re: Wanted: Scatter presets

I scattered over 60 million objects...it worked...I didn't time it as I was out of the office but it rendered OK and used virtually all of my 32GB RAM. Having "Only in camera view" checked by default would be handy :D (no more thin glass?) There is actually no more thin glass..BUT we have the archit...

Re: Wanted: Scatter presets

A preview render would be a nice touch, too :) A preview would be cool indeed, it's quite a bit of work though, so I might come back to that. Cheers for the extra 0.000s! Yeah previews are definitely no biggie....being able to save presets will be enough. I've attached a scene I'm working on...crap...

Re: Wanted: Scatter presets

Nice work Bubs!..looks quite tropical to me. I worked around the UVW errors by using the same grass material on all blades, maybe not ideal. I thought that might also speed up render times? *shrug* I'll work on getting my poly count down a bit, too. I've added a reduced poly dandelion with simple PN...

Re: Wanted: Scatter presets

Had a few issues with material names getting confused on export. Also when indigo builds the model, it appears to stall for a while - I think once it reaches over 500,000 instances or thereabouts. Ive successfully exported a few million scattered instances and render time is actually ok - still work...

Re: SkIndigo 3.8.6.1

Is it possible to use an image to control scattering? Hue or RGB value maybe. That would work great for mountain ranges where snow stays clear but rocky bits get different densities of rocks on them. Grass on a lawn could be bent on different angles according to a stripey pattern (see attached). Som...

Re: Wanted: Scatter presets

Yep you can see why having a 1 square foot 'clump' would be problematic in a shot like this, youd have overhangs of 15cm. This (attached) is a quick test of my grass + clover (5% clover is still too much!) This scene has 400,000 instances, at a density of 2500 per sqm. It runs a little slowly, maybe...

Re: Wanted: Scatter presets

Clovers are attached - just a couple of simple ones for scattering, but maybe still too detailed? I will work on a proper scattered Lawn or something. I think it will need 5 or 6 component types to make a realistic lawn. The Clumps must be small (a few blades) otherwise the centres scatter them acro...

Re: Wanted: Scatter presets

I'll get to work on some..! I guess the dandelion is too detailed? I can do some basic weeds, buttercups, clover, etc. Thinking about grass types (from my temperate climate region, anyway): Lawn Pasture (rough, more large weeds) Meadow (longer grass, more flowery) Muddy grass (for hillsides and damp...

Re: SkIndigo 3.8.6.1

What am I doing wrong here? A problem occurred with the scene: Scene parsing error: could not find element 'geometry_uid'. (In element 'scene / scatter'): <scatter> <uid>120</uid>
grass3 on grassyscatter2
<p... (In element 'scene / scatter'): <scatter> <uid>120</uid>
<...
