Re: Basic ISL questions
a) What range of values does maxCosTheta() take? (in the example it's maxTheta() but indigo spat out an error saying that didn't exist so I assumed it was maxCosTheta()) b) I started my tests with the rim shader approach and I wanted the progression to have a steeper curve. So I "cooked up" this fun...

In the second case it would not suffer of the energy loss problem but then you cannot use bump or phong on your surface or it will look weird. In the ...

Re: Basic ISL questions
It may not be so obvious on the picture but basically the material/shader should be transparent where the normals are facing the camera and should gradually become opaque at the edges.

Basic ISL questions
Ok so for the scene I'm working on I need a rather specific "material" which I think is only possible using shaders, and since I've never actually written one before, well here I am ((Yes I did check the manual's examples)) Basically I'm looking to make an "atmosphere" type shader which I think woul...

Re: Borgleader's Learning Progress Thread
No, I scaled it so it would match the reference, I didn't see the point in making it to scale especially since I don't have any accurate date on how big to make it.ieatfish wrote:So is that sphere outside the window to scale for a real planet?
Re: Need help
There are many images from the Gallery which feature an intense amount of leaves, it's definitely doable.

Re: Borgleader's Learning Progress Thread
Looks nice, I would try it in a game engine tough (Marmoset Toolbag, UDK, Source....) since it can be a huge difference on how blender render normal maps and a game engine. Are you going to texture it? :) Yeah, I have the UDK installed so I'll be trying it in there (may also try Unity). As for text...
