To feed or not to feed, that is the question.

Re: Neoo's Work in Progress thread

Actually Neo this is just a suggestion but I think a project like this is better served using one of the many blog applications out there. For instance you could use excellent free blogs such as Wordpress, http://wordpress.com/ or Blogger https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=blogger...

Re: scene with coffee table

I would go easy on the DOF. It looks like the interior of a doll's house.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread

hi everyone, here's my quick render. Inspired by union bench (idodesign.se). Smoothing in sketchup is killing me. In this case we can assume that concrete was casted that way but acording to original project it should be smooth. Have you tried using the Subdivide and Smooth plugin by Whaat??...

Re: Simple Renderings Thread

I'm still yet to model glass correctly myself, so can't help you there....

I second TerraMatrix on Godzilla's lighting technique, it's great. I would love it Godzilla, if you could show how you set your scene up.

More completed work....

Re: Trouble w/ interior to exterior transition

The interior shots are decent but if they are 'bland' as you say, then are you using Reinhard or a camera preset? You've done well in creating dramatic shadows across the room. Try another light direction? Combining two different camera functions also works quite well, it is just a case of blending ...

Re: Simple Renderings Thread

For me, because of the Architecture course, I can't just give up on SketchUp because I depend on it for extracting plans/sections/elevations which I then work on in LayOut or Vectorworks. Sometimes concepts can be quickly conceived in SketchUp because of Push/Pull, our trusty friend. I'm no expert a...

Re: Simple Renderings Thread

Thanks for the words of encouragement, there is a bit of a back story to this. I'm currently training to be an architect, however vacancies are so thin on the ground that I saw a position for a 2D/3D Artist in a firm in Bermondsey, last month. Their requirements were that you had to be competent at ...

First attempt at using 3DS Max, after a LONG time using SketchUp. Re: Living renovation

Very nice work, Pibuz, really impressive, I like the slight chromatic aberration you've added  . Were the books textured directly? If yes, how long did it take?

Very much work in progress, for a project at a site in Brighton. Grass probably too straight, variation in plantation - but hey, I'm no horticultural expert¬ :P

Re: Simple Renderings Thread

Thanks Enslaver, looks really great.

Could you provide however, a step-by-step instruction on how to set a material like this up? Looking at the material in the editor, there seems to be a lot going on!

I've uploaded the material to the database.

I'm still wondering however, if SSS can be applied to materials of this nature.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread

If you are referring to the foliage on the wall, this was done in a similar manner to the grass. The difference with this is that plane on which I applied the texture was folded, bent and curved in a way which depicted something close to reality. In addition, more than one plane was used. I combined...
