dougal, no need to worry, it's just webkit underneath (= no extra testing needed vs. safari and others embedding wk) I LOVE chrome already. Give me a noscript and gesture extension and I will make this my default browser. For fun, those of you trying it: see that anchor in the bottom left of the tex...

Because of the cache hierchy of the Phenom, there are indeed workloads where it is quicker than the intel quads (as they have to go through FSB to access data outside their "package") per clock. [The cache is exclusive on the Phenom, as well - which incurs a performance hit because each cache is con...

BBJam:

Just pick one.

The Core 2 Quads are monsters, and Phenoms are not quite as great due the clock speed deficit against them, but they're cheaper. (As in, up to a point, less money for the Phenom is more speed. Then quickly it switches around.)

Isigrim: Actually, here's what I think is happening: when at full speed, the CPU is automatically being reduced in its clockspeed, due to power requirements. At lower clocks the power requirement is lower, so the scaling is normal. The higher clocks require more power - the first thread on the first...

Isigrim:

Ouch on the motherboard issue, I had heard about that problem.

I think your *main* problem is WINE in this case, however. The extra step there is screwing with your results.

Render the same scene in 1.0.9 and see.

In my experience Indigo (and pretty much ANY renderer, unbiased or not) scales almost perfectly linearly when you add cores/threads.

I've never actually used a Phenom, but even on my A64 boxes the scaling works as expected...

multiple uv sets = separate maps for bump, albedo, etc.

For example, bump can be tiled over the entire object, but albedo needs to be properly unwrapped. Two different UV sets.

Change your animation time, it's 30 s by default. shorter = more FPS.

victor: if you are dependent on the shadows from the sun as they are, play with the white balance first :)

EDIT:
NM.

You can't have an emitter not fully in a medium. Ono has said this before.

It's the sun and the sky!

Any items not directly lit by the sun will be "blue" in its shadow, because of the skylight illuminating it.

Change the angle of your sun relative to the horizon for orange-r skies...

I *think* I had to install a wxwidgets package to get indigo to work, but I honestly don't remember now.
Best way to check is to do what Isigrim says, run indigo from the terminal and see what errors you get back.

Whoa, I didn't say it was impossible. It's annoying enough that I gave up after a few hours. Test setup: Create a cube as your "domain", set it as such. Create a much smaller cube inside the domain as an "inflow", choose "init both" for volume - this directly influences the size of the fluid stream....

The fluid simulation. Crank up the resolution and it takes forever to process.

The SSS is nothing :)
