Re: What next with Indigo?

A decent material editor. People who are not programmers just aren't that used to fiddling with text editors. The matDb is very good, but if you want to change just one little detail in a downloaded mat, you have to download the source, modify it in a text editor, import it as an external mat with y...

Re: Liquids Test Thread

Yeah true subsurf doesn't work in this case, just costs a lot of time. I made good experience with setting the "smooth-button" in the fluid-sim panel to 4 or 5. Looks much better and is much faster.

Re: Liquids Test Thread

Very nice render!
Did you try applying the fluid sim and smoothing the mesh a little?

Re: Liquids Test Thread

Dakiru thanks for sharing! I actually did my glass the same way, just used curves as a profile. In your pictures the bottom of the glass just looks as if it wasn't perfectly straight, like is has some slight displacement, like I can see in my real wine glasses. Each time I try to reproduce this effe...

Re: Blender not installing correctly?

Hey Godzilla, try to manually install indigo. You don't just need the blendigo script, but also two (? I am at work so I can't check it quickly) folders containing whatever but also the missing image. You'll find them somewhere in the \appdata\blender foundation\.blender\scripts folder.

Re: Liquids Test Thread

dakiru, how did you model the bottom of your glass? By hand? via displacement map? Nice and realistic model, love the caustics. @Doug: It is actually not exactly my studio setup. Somebody published it here, I modified it a little and forgot the author  (but he is gonna recognize it in the .ble...

Re: Liquids Test Thread

Hey Doug, don't know why that happens. I am at work and downloaded my scene to my laptop, and at resolution 80 it works well and like expected.
What happens if you download it again and render it at a lower resolution?
Thanks for the effort!

Re: Liquids Test Thread

Thanks for the info! I just never was that into indigo subdivision as I was always happy with blenders approach. But real micro-poly meshes are not possible that way, or really really annoying to realize. Will definitely try that with the wine glass after work. The Profile should be ok by now, you g...

Re: Can't get light bulb to work

Hey Borgleader, just for the record: I cooked your original scene file overnight, and the bulb shows first signs of clearing up. So it is really just the thick glass, material-wise everything is fine.

Re: Can't get light bulb to work

I made two more tests and I think the answer is: Your glass ist just way too thick. If you just remove the inner faces of the bulb, your material works fine
Or just scale everything to real-world-size.

Re: Can't get light bulb to work

Everything you guys say makes a lot of sense but I still don't get it: Even though the model is not a 100% perfect (modifiers not applied, too big, glass to thick...) this SHOULD work! I assigned other materials (one of the famous schott db without cauchy b to be precise) and it works actually (just...
