Actually I don't think a transmitter mat would work here. You'd need to try but I think it would treat the object as a hollow volume. So your worktop will look like a lampshade.

I'd use a specular for a perfect mirror. Even huge exponents will result in slightly blurry reflections in phongs. My two cents.

If I were you I would just fake it. Hyper accurate Corian is sure to require some SSS, for instance, which wouldn't be practical if you need large surfaces (loooong render times). Besides, similar IORs can look strikingly different depending on the lighting scenario. I would just focus on a photogra...

Suv: Yes, I meant unbiased.

Ono: Happy to ditch bump mapping if there's a fast, practical, economical alternative... But there isn't really, is there?

Thanks man! Just found out about that yday. Patrice, the kind soul behind IT'S ART alerted it to me. I also got more nice news this week about this image. Can't say any more right now, though. In a few months perhaps.

That always happens with sun light and bump maps on low-geometry meshes. No way around it but to increase the polys. Pretty much all renderers are affected by the way. Not an Indigo singularity.

Ono: Would it be possible to also assign the sun, environment maps and normal mesh emitters to different layers? Right now only diffuse emitters seem to accept this.

I'll try the solution you suggested. But remember I'm illiterate. Would you have an example xml showing proper use of textures with diffuse-emitters? Here are two scenes with blended emitters. One where the non-emitting has bump and exponent (crashes) one without (works). Perhaps you can have a look...

Cheers man. Nothing much to see here (so far;-)) I seem to have trouble rendering textured emitters. I tried blending a null with a textured diffuse emitter. The luminosity does not seem to be modulated by the texture but to come on top of it. Dunno if it makes any sense, but basically, when the Mas...

You should be able to read scenes generated by Blendigo in Indigo 1.1.7. But without access to any of the new 1.1.7 features of course.

Ok, now things are working when blending the diffuse emitting mat with another, untextured, non-emitting diffuse mat or phong mat... Indigo crashes when trying to merge a phong with bump or exponent map and a diffuse emitter. Works nicely by merging a diffuse emitter and a specular. One weird thing:...

Can you render your scene ok in 1.1.6 or 1.1.7? If yes, you can do the tonemapping there...

Would be good if the new Indigo could read igi files...

Trying emitting materials now. My scene crashes just before warm-up. Could a kind soul have a look and check?

EDIT: I tried without the blend mat and it works. Does that mean we cannot merge emitting diffuse mats with other mats?
