Let me add more on the heat issue. Depending on manufacturer it clocks down either by FSB, Multiplier or other means. It can be VERY hard to detect. You need the correct program. I noticed it when gaming when suddenly my FPS dropped 30% after a bit of gaming. Typically try to run a benchmark on a "c...

Yeah I had some SERIOUS issues with "spontaneous" downclocking of my old AMD cpu. But what I meant was: If 4 cores access frame buffer and BSP/Scene at the same time it requires x4 times the memory bandwith as 1 core... If scene is complex enough so that misses on caches on the different cores are f...

They are both competing for the same memory. Try to render a tiny scene and redo test.

Few days later

I think its one of the greatest images ever created to be honest. Its on my desktop as background. I'd love a 1920x1200 version tho. Where can I send the check? ;)

Not sure why you would want to sum the components of a 3-vector. I'll add a length method for vec3s, in the mean time, use sqrt(dot(v, v)) Variables: Meh, I wanted the shader language to be a functional language, so I'm going to roll with that for a while and see how it turns out. So no variables, ...

[REQ] Shader language

+ I want to be able to access individual sub components of a vector like .x , .y .z or similar. (Update: I found it doti() dotj() etc) + A sum() function sum( vec3(1,2,3) ) = 6 + abs(vec3) that returns length + Variables would rock my world ;) Also there seems to be a bug (1.1.9) that I cant use vec...

kwisten it was sexy and stuff but I don't like it. Its a raytracing competition that could have been done with a standard gfx card. Does not compute for me.

The reasons they can get those layers its that they are a bi-product of scanline based renderers. It will require alot of overhead to produce those for indigo.
