Re: Intel 8 core CPU

I want one

I don't understand why they offer such powerful CPU's in their pre-builts, but not-as-powerful GPUs?

I mean, if you're running 2 i7's, you might as well stick a high-end card (or 2.. or 3) in there. Not that the 4870 isn't capable, but there are more powerful cards.

Re: Intel 8 core CPU

Elaborate on what do you mean by "What you really get"? Just as a quick test (This doesn't prove anything, I know.) I built the Mac Pro Quad-core on Newegg.com with the same components, 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 3GB 1066Mhz DDR3,640GB 7200-rpm SATA 3 GB/S HDD, GT 120 512MB , and a keyboard and ...

Re: Intel 8 core CPU

:/ I really want to switch to mac, it just seems hellishly overpriced :/ fast cpu is fast. Choice of words is important here. Mac Pros are expensive, not overpriced. Adobe software would be a good example of overpriced. ;) Mac's hardware to price ratio is way out of whack. They are overpriced. But ...

Re: New Mac Pros

Hopefully nothing is DOA :P You had to jinx me didn't you ;) 1 of the 6 2GB DIMMs was DOA. Not Apple's fault. The RAM was the one thing installed by the reseller I bought the machine from.
