Re: Nautilus Shell

I really like the film graininess that appears as the ground moves into darkness. Really looks like a film photograph to me. The soft focus is a nice way to get around using sss in this case. Why did you have the flash above the water? Is it not possible to place emitters within the water body? I wo...

Re: Slippery when wet...

 very believable.
one thing that kind of jumps out to my eye is the bump on the asphalt crack patch seems a little extreme or maybe even inverted, and should flatten out with distance and direct sunlight. but really nice overall.

Nice! How far away is your camera from the model? I'm guessing those windows are emitters and not allowing actual daylight? Otherwise do tell how?

Re: Blendigo not installing correctly?

If you're like me and you tend to click through install programs without looking at anything, you may have missed the part where it asks you for the blendigo install directory, which for some reason thinks blender is in documents and settings instead of program files... :D no need for manual install.

Re: Can't get light bulb to work

yeah but those are just default settings. can't I make it even more bloomy?

Borgleader one thing I notice about your scene is that the backdrop's color is almost black. I think this may be a major reason for the glass rendering dark?

Re: Can't get light bulb to work

How about this? This was about an hour's render. I was working on this before my computer    ed out. The default settings for aperture diffraction. I found rheinard gave the quickest result, although this is Camera Tonemapping with agfacolor 200CD (I think) and I set the ISO at ~600.

Re: The Renderer's Rings

Well Wytraven, your shape is a bit more complicated. :) However it's still possible to do. You will just have more groups. I made things easier by first assigning vertex groups to the profile: 1. Draw profile. 2. Vertex Group edges of profile. 3. Spin Dup 4. Go to a vertex group and hit select. 5. T...

It's not the grid texture at all, is it?

Re: The Renderer's Rings

Purespider, yeah I see that, I also see the numbers from the makers' mark. I wonder if the texture is still on there somehow? Actually polina's method works well with vertex groups, one each for the 'inner' and 'outer' sections of the ring. Unwrap them separately. No tweaking was done besides moving...

Re: FAIL

I think my PSU is decent, though old. I've heard all psus degrade so it might be worth testing. The corruption with my original card began when I was running a certain program for about 12 hours, and all of a sudden the whole system started strobing on and off. Since that event the video card has be...
