That is so nice, it look great.. Fantastic materials and great modelling, overall a very tasty picture :) ... Even the boxes look great, and the ribbon is so natural looking.. I know this is supposed to be a work in progress and as such you would like crits, but I got nothing. It looks like a perfec...

I have done a few little experiments with skin shaders, basically I use a blend of a phong with a glossy transparent(with sss). http://www.indigorenderer.com/joomla/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3252 The Phong has the bump and texture on it and has a exponent of 30 and a ior of 1.4. The sss is a ior 1.1, ga...

By tracery I guess you mean the stone work in the arches, I was never really sure what it was called.. And yes I know its really difficult to get it looking right, I'm still not happy with it myself.. I made numerous attempts at it, but its one of those things that just seem to be really difficult t...

Here is a another scene done thru renderranch, its got a ridiculously high fog/mist in it. And there is a a few problems with my model, biggest problem is the windows on the left of the picture are not lined up properly and there is light leaking around the corners. They looked ok in blender, but th...

The fog is all indigo, the only post pro I did was in violet for the tone mapping. The fog is quite a heavy fog, the material is a sss material. Uniform sss 0.02, with slight absorbtion ( 0 , 0.024 , 0.024 ). The whole scene is encased in a box of the fog material. I do have another test scene I did...

Thanks guys, its always nice to get some positive feedback on my work. Just a bit more info, it was modelled using blender and other than the trees and ivy its a very low poly scene. Most of the objects are instanced several times. The trees are from the free xfrog collection, ivy from ivy generater...

I've been running a few igs thru renderranch and so far it works great, no problems encountered and it seems nice and simple to use.. I am amazed at the speed of it. I have one render which I was never able to finish, the longest I let it render for was 4 days..I put it thru the ranch, 15 minutes an...

Really nice work as usual BbB, I must admit I am amazed at how many top class renders you post..it seems like every couple of days there is something new coming from you... I like all your stufff, but I really like your scifi inspired scenes, they are the sort of images I wish I could produce.

Hey BbB nice models, now the skin..It looks quite good, but I think the skin on a previous render of yours looked better ( the one with girl and the ball ). Just my opinion, but I think the old guy looks too yellow and has too much shine on his skin.. And the girl has a blueish look to her, like she...

It sounds like you have looked for the obvious problems already, have you tried applying scale and rotation ( Ctrl A) to the objects ? Sometimes that causes some weird smoothing problems if its not applied.
