ah i see; yeah i was sort of looking at it from a programmer's point of view ("the data is right there"). well, if there's a spec for how the colour-coding should be done (i suppose after tone mapping to account for the potentially huge dynamic range) it should be quite easy to add to voilet. unfort...

lol, i think there's a misunderstanding here somewhere :P i'm not annoyed, i'm just confused: bkircher was requesting luminance output, and when i told him it's already there he didn't want it. just doesn't make sense to me. the other thing is that underneath every pixel there can certainly be more ...

1. you can get luminance from the .igi file i presume, that stores CIE XYZ, of which the Y channel is luminance. Great, alas, I can't. Maybe I put my head to violet sometimes. oh man, it's really trivial. seriously if it's so important i can write a little tool to rip the luminance channel from an ...

For me, personally, Zup is the more logic way. You look down on a sheet of paper, so that x is left and right, where as y is farther away and closer to you. So, the next dimension to add is upward by using Zup. Well if that's logic, what about the blackboard you learned maths on ? Was it on your kn...

1. you can get luminance from the .igi file i presume, that stores CIE XYZ, of which the Y channel is luminance. 2. regarding the other channels, that's going to require quite a lot of chopping up of the engine, besides which - because indigo makes an antialiased histogram - you're going to have use...

have to be careful with those addictive things, they'll make you forget all about life and writing unbiased mlt renderers, for years at a time! ;)

Hmmmm unless you model an igloo and make the windows out of seal skin, you never know when you need to show an architectural render to an eskimo.... it's comforting to know that indigo has us covered in such times of need. if i recall the paper by jensen et al. correctly, even african seals can be ...

problem with amd is not there speed, its the actual technology that goes into them. amd doesnt have the same fan control and heat control that intel does and while it starts out faster, it looses speed over time do to frequent overheating. That's the silliest thing I've ever heard. I can't even beg...

easy now guys, i think vanessa meant something like chaosgroup's (v-ray developers) aura: http://gallery.3dsymax.org/albums/userpics/10028/fire.jpg i'm pretty certain indigo can do this given it has full spectral (in particular blackbody spectra) and participating media support. actually i was prett...

Re: Another MLT renderer

1. there are quite a few spectral mlt renderers flying around in the shadows these days... 2. reyes rendering is fundamentally different from ray tracing (it's rasterising-based, based on micropolygons), so it's not going to be an exact match. probably it's more related to the pharr-hanrahan scheme:...
