Re: MacBook Pro 2018 I9
@schwungsau while I do need a mobile solution, that does not include rendering. Most of the gaming notebooks are not "really" mobile and an external GPU would fit the bill if it did what I needed. That I yet have to figure out

Re: Better render settings for this object/material
@schwungsau I have to admit that I am uneasy about using GPU on a mobile platform ever since after OscarJ mentioned having serious problems with failed solder joints on the GPU on his earlier generation MacBook. The model was just an exercise to see how far I can take things with the array modifier ...

Re: Better render settings for this object/material
No, actually I was convinced that I needed MLT. But after 16 minutes of rendering in BDIR it looks promising. I've also given it 17 minutes in Path/GPU and that also does not look too bad.
It just takes a little patience to render this on a 2017 MacBook Pro

Re: Blendigo 4.2.2
Is there a timeline for availability of Blendigo in Blender 2.8 ?
The Blender Beta seem plenty stable for my needs and Will likely move to a Stable release very soon. It would be nice to be able to transition to 2.8.

Better render settings for this object/material
This is a complex object and even when rendered with "normal" materials takes a while to "clean up". However, nothing beats the visual complexity of glass materials with couchy B. The object is lit by a 4k HDRI form HDRI haven called the Shanghai Bundle https://hdrihaven.com/hdri/?c=outdoor&h=shangh...

Re: MacBook Pro 2018 I9
I agree that it is pricey, but so are MacBooks ;-) It comes down to whether one personally values the design aesthetic and convenience of a plug-and-play solution like the blackmagic box over the last bit of render performance and upgradability. Also, the Blackmagic supposedly is very quiet. The lim...

Re: MacBook Pro 2018 I9
@gkpbydesign. I have a 2017 MacBook Pro and am in interested to hear how your set-up with the Radeon iRX Vega 56 is going to perform. @Oscar J I've had the same concern when rendering on my now over 10 year old iMac. While that for obvious reasons never included the GPU it did get hot for long perio...

The silence in response to the OPs question is really rather disturbing :/

Have you switched to CPU rendering and did it work there ?

Interesting topic! Specialized simulation tools usually are aimed at specific industries and are usually aimed as specific industries. As an individual with a strong interest but lacking the sort of industrial strength financial backing I decided to use Indigo to help design my lighting "fixtures"> ...

Re: Blendigo 4.0.8
I believe the small edits I made to the Blendingo exporter are discussed in this thread. https://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13655 That thread is more than 2 years old, so it is very good to see that this is being worked on again. Thanks @MZ! In the above mentioned thread I prov...

@lycium
Improvements to which plugins ?
I believe it when I see it. The Blender plugin has not seen a change is several years.
