Re: August 2012 Competition - Materials & Lighting

Hey guys, Thought I'd upload my WIP for some comments.... looking for some advice on the realism angle! I'm also interested in what camera setting you guys use for your renders? I tend to go with Advantix-100... Pibuz, if you get this message, where do you get your HDR environment map from? I'd also...

Re: Instancing

Thanks for looking into this Whaat. When you say that instancing is done automatically, are you saying that there is no option for instancing in skindigo and that if you have 100 trees (that are the same) in the scene, that skindigo will automatically use instancing and therefore the scene will star...

Instancing

Hi Guys, I upgraded from Indigo 2.4 to 3.2 yesterday and have tried rendering some of my models (that contain instancing) and for some reason they do not render with skindigo. Everything just crashed. There are lots of trees and grass in the scenes. I have tried looking for answers on the forum thro...

Re: Render crashes after an hour every time!

Ok, My problem is solved anyway but no idea if the two are related - I brought my computer in to see what was going on and as it turns out the hard drive was totally fried! Hence why my computer was crashing half way through a render. got a new 64 gb hard drive - 'C drive' and now everything is fine...

Re: Render crashes after an hour every time!

Just to give you guys an update... Indigo doesn't crash before the hour any more and that is down to me taking the following steps: After working on the computer all day, turn off the computer for 15 minutes, open the sides of the computer box slightly - so the hot air rises out. Turn on the compute...

Re: Render crashes after an hour every time!

Hi Pure Spider,

Really appreciate you sending those links - There are a few interesting solutions to try out - Like defragging... as it could be a computer memory issue. I will keep you posted but if all fails I will be forced to bring it into the computer shop which will end up being costly : (

Re: Render crashes after an hour every time!

Thanks for your comments about the voltage guys, I will have a look at this today. CTZn, without sounding too much like a rookie - But I have used indigo for a year and half but haven't dabbled with GPU. I use indigo 2.4.13. Can you please tell me more about this? I have looked in my indigo settings...

Re: Render crashes after an hour every time!

It's not a heating problem, I've taken temperature tests and also cleaned the inside of the computer from dust. Dopes anyone know if there is a memory capacity for indigo renderer? I always delete the tre cache but there is a materials cache that's about 250mb in the folder....

Re: Render crashes after an hour every time!

Thanks Zom-b,

I am, using skindigo v 2.4.13 so it's over a year old... I will look into updating to the current version but it still doesn't explain why the computer is shutting down all of a sudden, regardless of the version? As it has been working fine for a year and a half....

Render crashes after an hour every time!

Hi Guys, Bit of an urgent matter, would really appreciate any advice.... I've been using Skindigo intensively over the last year and a half, and now when I render an image, my computer will shut down by itself between half an hour and an hour into it. The computer screen goes all BLUE and says ' a p...

However, I've come to as standstill now in terms of achieving more from my imagery.... The next stage in my 'education' is the more advanced s...

Re: HDR Lighting & Shadows Technique

Just had a browse on the link - it seems like quite a drawn out process just to get darker shadows.... Surely there must be a better way??? Or is this something that will be resolved in the next edition of Indigo?
