As I told SmartDen already: Make "UVTex" the default setting for the uv set, instead of "uv".
I always have to change it by hand when creating my materials in blendigo.

Depends on what you're thinking of when saying "better".
Entering Editmode, selecting all Faces and hitting Ctrl+N to recalculate all normals outside should fix all problems.
If I ever need some suzanne-renders I call you.
