Two culinary pieces (I was hungry...)

Two little culinary pieces I thought you might enjoy. Nothing very fancy in terms of modelling, apart from a bit of work on textures, but I think they're pretty much finished.

Sorry to interfere, I had the same problem once and realised I had a way too shallow DOF so Indigo was just seeing a big blur. Perhaps you should check your camera settings.

Thanks but I don't think so. Otherwise I wouldn't spend so much times trying elementary things before they actually work (kind of...) But I must say this is all very addictive, as I'm sure you'll agree...

Thanks Manitwo, The square shape in focus in the bathroom scene is a mirror stuck to the side of the wood table. It's hard to tell, though, as it only reflects the white wall. As for the SSS vases, they're ok, but it's luck really. I still haven't mastered the SSS settings and especially the way the...

A few more things. A Blender softbody cloth simulation (I couldn't be bothered to properly UV map the wood log), and an updated render of my bathroom image...

I tried the export-import trick and it worked for me too. Although when I convert a mesh to an .obj file and reimports it, it comes back at about a tenth of the original size...

I've checked the normals and they're pointing in the right direction, though they seem to show weird angles, i.e. not aligned with the faces. And now I'll stop polluting the Docteur's thread with my amateur stuff. Apologies...

Good idea. Will try now. Here's another one without problem though I used a similar volume. Go understand...

Thanks a lot. Very nice and encouraging. I got an overnight crash, though, so no updates so far, but I've posted a few completed pics in the gallery.

Here it is. See what I mean. I can't seem to be able to get rid of these weird dark edges on the wood "table". This is a Blender subsurfed mesh with subsurf applied, i.e. it doesn't seem to be a mesh density problem... Any suggestion welcome.

Thanks Docteur, I'll give it a try. I've been playing with inner and outer dampening and I get closer to something satisfying but I need to convert sharp to round edges on my deflection volume for it to work, which then poses me some normals smoothing problems I can't get rid of. I'll post a WIP to ...

By the way Docteur, how did you make your softbody look so good? Mines always seem either to penetrate inside deflection objects at the edge, or they just seem to float above them. I can never make the cloth sit tight on the edge and surface of the table...

Thanks for the kind comments. I guess I'm still a newbie from the number of attempts it still takes me to get the objects/materials I'm really after. A lot of trial and error. But I must say I've been spending quite a bit of my spare time on Blender/Indigo since I ran into them earlier this year. Do...
