obj export from max is relatively new in the product - I still use the habware plugins but they don't work in the last couple of drops of Max (I have an old version - don't use it any more I prefer blender -it's far cheaper to keep up to date :) )

Depends on circumstance.

If the mesh light is visible it will be modelled as appropriate - if it's not visible then a low poly sphere / cube or flat plane depending on circumstance.

In truth real fibres are generally 6 layers, the glass inner, a wax coating, cladding, wax coating, buffer and a plastic sheath. the waxes reduce kinks in the inner from bends...

Thanks Ono, so is it using a later revision i.e SSE 2 or SSE 3 that the old athlon won't support?

Does Indigo use any SSE or similar

OK, I just moved up to 1.0.3 from .9 and renders with glass using Cauchy not equal zero seem way slower then .9. It got me thinking about whether the code is optimised to use any extended instruction sets and if so how optimised is it for newer chips? In the case in question I was rendering on my da...

I'm using blendigo 9t4 and indigo 9t8 with no problems. Questions I would ask, blender version? do you have python installed?

I'll also add a thank you to SmartDen, been playing with blendigo for a few months now and it's great, but I don't think I've ever really said thanks..

I think it's ironic that AMD being complacent is what allowed Intel to turn the tide with Coe 2 Duo :) I don't think it's just down to complacency, Intel were going big guns to leap over AMDs tech, one of the guys I work with is married to an intel employee, and they really did have it as a target ...

I certainly hope you're right I'd like to see AMD pull some nice tech tricks out of the hat. I did notice their latest cards (the 2900) appears to be a really serious piece of tech.

As zsouthboy implied, I'm just in it for what is most effective, so until the core 2 duo it was AMD for the last few years. AMD(ATI) vs nVidia, is harder, generally nVidia are faster, ATI better looking. Last couple of rounds ATI have dropped the ball a bit and nVidia are faster and better looking :)
