emitter size / light distribution issue

hi everyone!, it's been a while since my last visit and i'm glad i'm back. Here's my try of an evening scene with cold/warm light mix. Unfortunately i'm not able to set light propely. There's still a lot of noise from the external lights. The attached image has less than 400 spp but it's not my firs...

Re: low-poly cars

hi,
IMHO many of sketchup (3dwarehouse) cars are ok - especially when You need them as additional object (f.e. for archviz). They just need little bit of material tuning. This mini cooper weighs about 8MB.

Re: frosted/milk glass tip please

Hi,
thanks for all ideas.
I did some test with phong material with clip mask value set to 0.5. In my case it should work but i'll check Yours solution too.

frosted/milk glass tip please

hi, i need some help with semi-transparent panels in my render. Below is about 1k spp sample. As You can see, the render is still loooong way to be clear. Material is "frosted glass" from material database, panels are 6 mm thick. I did some test with glossy-transparent and specular materials too. Ar...

Well done (design + renders).
How much time did it take to render all these?

Re: Loft interior / advice welcomed

hi, IMHO You should take a look at materials borders - f.e. where stone tiles meet wood planks. In real life there's always something there (cork, steel or just a small gap). Also a good trick is to lift all standing furnitures about 05,-1mm up - it simulates (real) unperfection of floor/furniture s...

Re: How to render this scene to be more better & realistic?

what is Your white material settings? White shouldn't be set lighter then 204/204/204 (rgb) especially in interiors rendering. Lowering values to 204/204/204 will icrease performance.

Re: Can't load textures

hi,
there may be a problem with loading textures when You use non-latin characters. Make sure, that there's no non-latin characters in texture filename AND path. I hope it could help.

Re: skindigo mesh problem

maybe triangulation would help? You can do it using some plugin or by exporting to .obj format and imprting back to SU.

Re: Villa Savoye

very nice,
there's only one thing - the metallic-like reflections on the walls seem strange. Or it's just me?

btw. I did some renders of this building, but never finished... Maybe Your work could be good inspiration to do it...

cheers

Re: texture resolution limit

there's now a pref for 'use maximum texture size' which i believe will use the largest size that your graphics card can handle.. Yeap, that's the answer. All resolution limit thing is about the way SU displays textures. I've tested. Regrdless preferences settings (maximum resolution on/off). Skindi...

Re: texture resolution limit

thx for Your reply. ou can link to the hi-rez file in the skindigo material editor.. I do know that. I'd like to know if there's such a need. In other words if sketchup stores original (full) data for skindigo to use? It's possible - skp file grows significantly when using large textures. I'm just n...
