Actually, now that I think of it, could you model a fisheye lens and then place it in front of the camera object? Would that work currently?

I'm going to look into trying a few things.

I don't disagree :)

But the fact is that it is not impossible to do right now, vs. say, SSS, material layers, etc.

Not arguing against having fisheye (and other) lens perspective effects added, just other things first.

FWIW I LOVE my 10.5mm Fisheye Nikkor. Love it.

IMO time should not be wasted on such a thing, until things like SSS are done.

It's quite easy to simulate in post.

I steal them from other people.

What? What'd I say??

Lately, I've been actually creating my textures in Blender procedurally, then exporting them nice and big. (No tiling!)

Multiple renders at one time wouldn't change the image quality; however, it will be slower than running one at a time.

Dude, that's 1% extra processor that you didn't have to buy :)

Well, that cancels my project. Just used this. Works great! Exactly what I was looking to do myself.

I might still do my version, for the coding experience, but it's put off at this point.

Wow, I actually was in the planning stages of writing something to help with camera positioning, DOF + focus distance (which is such a pain to guesstimate), material previewing, etc... This looks good too, I'll try it when I get a chance. Nick, question: is something like this already in the works? ...

I've successfully paired a master/slave over the INTERNET no less, uploading of frames takes a while, but it doesn't hamper things.

IMO Indigo's network rendering code is excellent. Easy to use, no wierd BS to deal with.

PhilBo: what kind of lab do you work in?

I've got stuff like pipettes, 96 well plates, etc. already modeled, if you need 'em.

.6 test4 severely washes out a scene, over time, for me. Last night I started a render, in which the first few minutes looked fine (as in the render looked correct) Woke up this morning, and it was SEVERELY burned. pure white, except for a few spots that were in shadow. Nick, are you sure that there...
