Re: Random GPU progress pic thread

Considering I'm using exactly this GPU I'm happy to look at these results :)

First general purpose eGPU dock available

An interesting development in my opinion for any 3d content creator/VFX/animation that want to work in mobility but also having the possibility to switch on a more powerful GPU respect what is available on a laptop, or repower a less powerful laptop, or just upgrade a GPU in the future. http://www.a...

Other here can give better info about Indigo features and technologies, I'm still a noob on the application itself.

Re: Vulkan on OSX

These are technologies supposed to work on different tasks. Vulkan or OpenGL or DirectX are API used to render realtime 2d or 3d graphics. Meaning they are used to develop applications GUI or realtime interactive 3D graphics such as in games or in the viewport working area of an 3d application. Open...

Re: Random GPU progress pic thread

If you avoided using Winter the troubles I did understood there are in OpenCL you are in an ideal and strong position.

Re: Random GPU progress pic thread

From the slides appear to be possible to generate from Winter not only OpenCL but also CUDA code, a good way to keep open both opportunities. But maybe I'm misunderstanding badly.

Re: Random GPU progress pic thread

:) Interesting, even if I didn't understand how this can decouple from OpenCL intrinsic troubles, but will wait and see.

Re: Random GPU progress pic thread

So it's a Glare Tech proprietary high level language that can be compiled into OpenCL kernels, similar to Kronos SPIR-V?
Not a developer view, interested to understand future evolution.

Re: Random GPU progress pic thread

Apart bad drivers and need to split kernels, there are other reasons why OpenCL 1.2 it's so hard to develop on something big such as Indigo?
We can expect easier development cycles and maybe a further speedup under 2.0 or 2.1?

Re: Indigo last survivor in the race for OpenCL renderer

Was not sure how to interpret the statement, and was interested into looking at their news after one of their beta tester state in another forum the beta is going nowhere. But can be just a strong CUDA advocate. Anyway I wasn't aware about Octane 3 being still CUDA, that was a surprise for me consid...

Indigo last survivor in the race for OpenCL renderer

Reading in a forum I did realize Indigo might be the only (or anyway the most advanced) in the race for new OpenCL renderer, after Vray RT and Blender Cycles (not sure if these are really used). Reading here https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=51917 appear Octane 3 it's still pure CUD...

Re: Vegetation plugin compatibility

I did also tried the demo, in my understanding its less parametric and offer less species than XFrog, but it's easier to use.
Forester offer also stones and wind, but no demo and no production ready textures.

Re: Vegetation plugin compatibility

All of these don't deliver native indigo shaders; you have to set up them all by yourself. :( Plus: in some cases Indigo doesn't export the render level resolution correctly; only the viewport resolution. Cheers, zeiti No good for an hassle-free target setup for beginners. Any other vegetation plug...
