Re: Making the Earth

Yes I get ity for the displacement, and I made a lot of tests, and I can say that everything respect aproximately good all the real scales, also the elevation, and here the atmosphere is really bigger than everything else, and nothing of the Earth or of the clouds displaces over the atmosphere... Mo...

Re: Making the Earth

Thanks ! Yes I had enable view dependency ! And also I tried to change the threshold, but I didn't notice any change on the oceans, so I enabled subdivision smoothing.. Oscar J, No there is still no atmosphere, but I can't get it good, I have still the same problem with the atmosohere, the half of i...

Re: Making the Earth

Zom-B, so many thanks for the tutos links ! I just and only looked at the very short SkIndigo Displacement Mapping and Subdivision Tutorial, and I get it, I have made several tests and this technique makes amazing results ! :) Thanks a lot !! I understand also that a primitive sphere is just one of ...

Re: Making the Earth

mmmh I thought "exponent" did "smooth the surfaces when high value, and ,rough it when low value"... The software I use is Sketchup 8. I was using GPU for all this Planet scenes. Okay thanks for the manual link ! I've already been on it some times, but I must told you I learn the things when I need ...

Re: Making the Earth

Sorry it was not oscar saying that but "Bubs".

Okay but what is exactly "a sphere primitive" ..?

I have also tried to change the exponent, but we still see triangles, and I tried displacement, but it does not affect really, and when I want to change the value, it crashes, every time.

Re: Making the Earth

Well, finally, I had a doubt about what said Oscar, so I tryed a render without texture to see if its not a geometry problem... and apparently that's that, for the triangles

Re: Making the Earth

Well everything is at real scale, the Earth is 6378137 meters large for a half diameter (dont know the word in English), and the clouds are at 10000meters high from the surface of the Earth. But in fact I didn't scale correctly the atmosphere... but I m not sure how big I should set it up to be corr...

Re: Making the Earth

I've seen, but how can I use the atmo material of the pig file scene, into my own scene ? can't I save the atmo material as a material, to import it in my scene ? How do I do please ?

"Edit" Ok I am sorry I've just found how to save materials

Re: Issue with GPU Rendering

How do you know what temperature CPU and GPU reaches ? And how to know the maximum they can reach ?
