Re: Indigo Renderer 4.0.65

Hi Lal-O. That car paint is kinda complicated with interference enabled, which apparently doesn't work well on GPU. Are you sure you need interference? Otherwise, there's a pretty much identical material without interference here: https://www.indigorenderer.com/materials/materials/1322 The white dot...

Re: Adding a second GPU

The GTX will probably be pretty useless for OpenCL rendering. But you're right, no need for SLI when rendering with Indigo. :)

Re: OpenCL Rendering mode multitasking

You'll need a separate GPU for your main display. The key is not using your display GPU for rendering - then you'll be able to surf to your heart's content.

Re: Interface issues

^ Agreed. Personally, I think more powerful plugins are the way forward, rather than trying to turn the standalone into a full fledged scene editing and assembly software (which all 3D software would do a much better job at anyway). Octane is an interesting example in that some of their plugins are ...

^ Hmm, why would you not want to use your 3d app for these things though?

Re: How to set the Gamma value in 3DS MAX?

You can set gamma for HDRI backgrounds in Indigo standalone, as show in the screenshot. I practically always use it as it's such a great way to give some extra pop to a bad HDRI. So just a +1 from me to add it to the Max plugin. :)

Cool tests! :) Maybe the trees can match the ground vegetation better in terms of colour.

Re: Select cpu/gpu in *.igs file

Welcome :) Hmm, I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do. You'll need Indigo 4 for multi-GPU rendering. When you've selected GPU devices in the Indigo GUI, then that device selection is saved and used for any other scenes you launch (until you change device selection again of course). It's not ...

Re: Feedback after testing Indigo (requests+bugs)

Yeah, agree with all you said - tone mapping needs to be thoroughly updated with linear workflow in mind. I would really like to be able to load LUTs, and 32 bit colour correction tools like V-Ray has (highlight burn rocks, not least for arch viz). I *think* what Indigo currently does with Linear, i...

Re: Feedback after testing Indigo (requests+bugs)

Well, lumens for a single 60 watt light bulb is about 1100, so you'll probably need reasonably high values in general. I find that if you use a "room sized" scene, use a value of 1100 on a light source, i'll show up fine with Linear = 1 or any normal camera tone mapping. This is supposed to be perfe...

Re: Feedback after testing Indigo (requests+bugs)

Awesome feedback! Agree with most things. Some things to clarify, and some questions: What do you mean by falloff, softness, ambient light, etc? In a physically based renderer like this, falloff is always on (1/x^2). Softness, in case you mean shadow softness, is controlled by the size of the light ...
