Re: Breaking Glass Simulation

Pretty cool. The camera drops down, right? It might be good to have some point of reference. Once the glass shatters I got a bit lost in the motion.

If you use the same seed, both images will eventually be the same, if you use different seeds, they will be different even after the same rendering time.
Where does one set the seed?

MLT Sampling Method

If I start two renders and let them run for exactly the same amount of time, will they be the exact same image in the end? Or is the sampling random and I will instead end up with equally resolved images but not exact copies? I ask because I am finding that (probably due to my poor lighting techniqu...

Re: Pendant Light Display

Here is an updated render. Rather than use some large emitters for ambient light, I used an environment map from here: http://gl.ict.usc.edu/Data/HighResProbes/ 3rd one down, the Ennis-Brown house.

Re: Pendant Light Display

The straight on view is much better! I also think the ceiling could be at least 1-2 feet higher. But the camera should remain exactly where it is. I like the camera eye level showing the shape of the top & a peek into the bottom. You can see the lighting effect on the ceiling which is good. And I t...

Re: Pendant Light Display

Ceiling seems very low... Make sure it's at least 2400mm or higher. I liked the first angle, straight on against the wall. Showing corners in rooms is always quite tricky as it very much depends on where you place the corner in the image and what's occupying the corner. Ceiling is at 8ft (so ~2400m...

Re: Pendant Light Display

Here's a render I just did. Still going through different options but it is nice to see it in a setting with other things.

Pendant Light Display

I have a pendant light I've been tweaking and was wondering what you all would do to 'display' it. I just have it in a studio setup but it seems a bit ... empty. Any ideas on how to display it without taking away from just displaying the fixture?

Re: How to Use Motion Blur

Found my first use for this today. Whaat, you're awesome. It worked great for a small thing but then I tried a few other things and it stopped. The object that should be moving is rendering away from the correct location even though it hasn't moved in the model. edit: Attached some images. The firs...

Re: Recent Work

I agree that it is looking better. From the stucco I've seen, the 'globs' are more varied in size and how far they stick out. Then again, that might not even be important once you get the other textures to be more realistic, that succo might not need any changes.

Re: XBOX - Looking for tips to improve

I agree that the environment could use a little tweaking. I like to use an EXR environment map for interior scenes when I can. There is a free one on this page: http://gl.ict.usc.edu/Data/HighResProbes/ in the Ennis-Brown house that I enjoy using.
