Re: Which moniter...

Thank you for your prompt replies.
According to this list there are a couple of S-IPS monitors in my price range, but they are either smallish (1600 x 1000 or so), or only available used.
If the 2243BW is good, do you think the 2343BWX would also be good, because it's in the same model number range?

Re: Heterogeneous participating media tests

Is there any chance you could add support for 3D textures, or some kind of volumetric data sets?
I'm thinking of what one would need to get a fluid blending sim, say from Real Flow, into indigo.

If you could get the slaves with only mobo-integrated graphics that would be better on the power front, plus save you a bit of money.

What language is Skindigo written in? If there is an easy way to load a png in said language Skindigo should load png textures and then write out the alpha chanel to a png image and use that as a blend map with a null mat. It would not be hard to do in my native language, Java, but I don't know if i...

as of 1.1.6 materials can emit light from their surface(not volume :( ), so you could make the flames light emitting diffuse-transmitters. I'm haven't used indigo in a while though, so it might not work.

Actually his ref photo is just out of focus, no dof problems. Anyways more dof means that more of the image is in focus, not less.

Are you looking for sun beams? Is that what you mean by glow? Sun beams(not nesiseraly from the sun) are created by covering the seen with a large cube with a SSS material.

Glow usually just means a sort of halo around bright spots, it is not a volumetric effect, even in real life.
