No, I'M the one who did something stupid. :( I never knew about the Hamachi limitation.. Apparently the network is "full" once 16 different users have logged on once.. Not even at the same time, just total. This makes it pretty useless to a community of users. I'll look into some other options.. may...

One more test render out of the hamachi "renderfarm" ... more like a rendergarden right now, but it works! Indigo once again blows me away by recreating exactly what a scene would look like in real life. Almost scary really! Don't have to worry about photons, shadow buffers, etc. while model...

I took your advice.. Now have the indigo folder shared read-only. Good idea! You can open up the render in acdsee, and just hit refresh to see the updated render!

Now, how do I go about compressing these monster xmls? :)

First official render on the Hamachi Indigo renderering network. (Let's not make any silly acronyms) It was only me and Kothe doing the rendering, but the test was successful.. the only problem is, I used a really huge (50mb) xml file, and it didn't get very pretty overnight, but the shares and netw...

Well shoot.. here I thought I had finally figured out how things worked.

What would the settings in blender be, for example, for a perfect mirror? :(

Specularity/Hardness reference for Blender

I made this test image to get a feel for the range of specularity and hardness selectable from blender. Makes it easier to pick settings for say, dry silk, or slimy frogskin, etc. You can also see how specularity settings above 1.0 don't make the reflection any sharper, but the consecutive reflectio...

ATTN: Hamachi Network Distributed Rendering Test!

I've been really fired up about the idea of shared processing/rendering since discovering Indigo, and have been looking for a way to bring together those making brilliant, processor-taxing indigo scenes, and those with a spare core/cpu or two! At lego's suggestion, I have set up a virtual private ne...

Pinhole Camera with Indigo

This was a recreation of the pinhole camera experiment. A test, more than a work of art, but it was VERY cool seeing the inverted scene appear! I just made an enclosure with some colored shapes at one end, and a light source with another box at the other end. I left a very small square opening, and ...

Ah, that's true about the security issue. Screen savers are now one of the biggest ways viruses get onto a system. A reasonably secure screen saver that needs constant internet access does sound like a pretty big undertaking. I think the hamachi idea would work well though! If I recall correctly, it...

Request: Distributed Rendering Indigo Screen Saver!

Ok, so projects like Folding@Home take unused CPU cycles and do something with it.. so I think, why not create something like an indigo distributed screen saver, similar to electric sheep (electricsheep.org). I would be more than happy to devote my computer's down-time to other peoples' renders if i...
