Looks like a cube with a photo texture applied. Well, you can do better if so. ;)

Everytime a new MLT engine is born it's either commercial and/or closed source, which makes me, as someone who feels pretty strong about free software, cry a little. Don't get me wrong, I love Indigo, and I'm excited to see you, IanC, taking your own approach on the subject (especially with your nic...

Lovely, you get a fanboy bonus from me, loved FF7 with all my heart. Alright, now the critique: definitely ease up on the DoF, it's way to strong. The railing needs more subsurfing since the edges are visible. The background is a little bleak, give us a Macro reactor or something. The camera angle s...

Cool, paper coins. ;)
Instead of using a photo texture you might wanna consider using a bump map and NK materials for the coins.

Encapsulate your emitter in a colored transparent hull. For example, create a UV sphere, set it to emit. Then create another, slightly larger sphere around the emitting one and set it to transparency with an IOR of 1.

Well, well, if it isn't the Uffizi Gallery in Italy. ;) It's looking great now. Personally I'd chose another color for the cloth (which is lovely by the way), maybe something reddish. Oh and the apple in the front looks like it's gonna fall down any moment. Overall very good job, DaveC. :)

Color correction and 1.5k mpp. Still a little undecided on what to do for background extras. You guys think it'll be to bleak if I let it blank?

Lovely. :) Two crits though: get rid of those ugly flying-saucer clouds, they kill the mood; also smoothen the right hill, it's a little edgy.

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/8567/im1165630296og9.png Small update. :) atmatt: I tried a couple of things after you posted, and the most creepy thing still seems to be the pierced-directly-into-the-pupil variant. ;) I played with my male model from another project but it didn't really show in t...

Do you want your eye medium or crisp?

http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/880/im1165615706wr0.png Rendered for half an hour. I'll let it render until it's either clear or I find something to change (which I most certainly will). Still undecided if I want the fork to be lying on the table or the "someone behind the camera holds it up" wa...

Oh c'mon, give that floor texture some love. ;) First resize the uv-unwrap a little, the texture is way to large. Then create a bump map from your original texture and apply it. As of know it looks.. well, quick&dirty. The jug turned out nicely. :)
