That the indirect light on the wall is nowhere near to sufficiently sampled is a confession of failure. Yes... I totally agree with you. And really I can't imagine what I could have done wrong or not optimized in Maxwell... BTW, there is another point which I forgot: with Indigo I set the emitter t...

test reloaded

ok, after messing around a bit here we are with this test, now in (almost) full respect of the law 8) . The test scene is about light emitted from a small source, passing through a SSS volume (a kind of window) and lighting a floor and a wall. You can see the attached scheme. In this test I am inter...

I am based in Italy... the desktop system I am referring to is called here "Studio XPS". I don't know if the name is the same in US. Anyway, I just took it and customized it a bit (added 3 gb ram, downsized HHD and graphic card). Now I am wondering if it would be possible to remove the graphic card ...

proposal

Gentleman, following your suggestions (especially Sukrim's) this is the proposal I'd like to discuss with our technician on monday. All your comments are warmly welcomed. As I wrote, with Xeon X5460 we would get from Dell 4 nodes with 8500 €, more or less (it's around 1.5 k€ each), with 3.16 GHz, 13...

question

Hi all, I got a proposal for a machine based on a number of Intel Xeon X5460, 3.16 Ghz, 12 MB Cache, 1333 MHz FSB.
I could not find any direct comparison with iCore 7, maybe because they are targeted to different markets (This machine is basically a server).
What is your opinion on this?

wow!

Guys, I am really impressed by the numbers and quality of the answers... thanks a lot! :D I will start to consider the various options together with our technician and see what comes out... BTW I think ZomB got it right about the renderfarm option: I think it would be unpratical for daily work. Also...

similar question

Hi guys, I have a similar question on which kind of system would be better for top-speed rendering with Indigo. My budget is around 10000 euros (I am a lucky guy :D ). This is for a newborn company. So keep in mind that: - there is hardly time to build a cluster (and to find someone able to do it) -...
