simple yet very effective... i really like it.

i think you can try the scene with a faint fill light like Borgleader said, and compare yourself, which one expresses better...

if i were you, i would try with a green light

very nice render
i esp. like the metal material, maybe someday you would share in the material database

i didn't like the worktop texture though, nice colours but 'too little tiles'

'too little tiles' reminded me of the movie 'amadeus'

'too many notes'

i havent tried before but maybe you can make a separate model of your ship thats outline is 'a little bit smaller' than the original one and render for alpha mask. the important thing is, offcourse, not to scale the model smaller but, making its outline smaller, like the command 'offset' in autocad....

ok, you're right, a very simple emiter would do too, and glass being unnecessary, but it's a little bit experimental... (please don't let me be misunderstood) and i'm not making a comparison but here's another render from another unbiased renderer. it's not a test between two, since the scenes and m...

forgotten in a box

hi all, here's a simple scene i made in 3ds max expecting something marvelous! to happen, i modeled the emitter as a helix. i think the image should be 'clearer' esp. the bulb and the mirror what do you think the problem is? a) inappropriate materials b) i am not patient enough :? (4-5 hours on an e...
