Nice details! But why are those cars parked end to end?

Maybe a smaller f-stop to make it less blurry?

What did you use to make the leaf material?

Hey sweet, another newb! Well, you modeling looks to be off to a way better start than mine. I would suggest to you, however, that a 'studio' setting might be more appropriate that what you have here (a half open box in the sun?). Also, there are many unnaturally sharp places (the bracket on the sid...

xrok1 wrote:delete the trees.dat file and then start it again, don't touch your computer while it downloads, seems finicky about that. leave it for a couple mins. should be fine.

worked for me.
Actually, I tried that, but it was still a no go. Ah well, I'm sure there are other tree-gens out there.

Yeah, i saw this on slashdot a couple days ago, but I can't get it to work.

It crashes every time about where it says downloading trees from server (xp).

Anyone else having similar problems. Maybe it is just my crappy video card.

In retrospect, I should have bump mapped those. That might have more realistically achieved the effect I was going for.

But too late, because now I'm done fiddling with it. Time to mount another assault on this 'learning curve' thing.

Ok, final version is here. This is a closed scene as far as I'm concerned: Time elapsed: 143 h, 6 s Done 8077840000.00000 samples (7888.51563 samples per pixel) 15691.01664 samples / second (63.73073 micro-seconds / sample) I just noticed this, but only a total, absolute, first-timer noob gives a sc...

Alright, so this is what it is looking like for the final render.

Any last minute suggestions are still appreciated. (will fix tonemapping in final render)

Well, I added this mat, but everyone I have shown it to seems to think it doesn't really fit with the room- not really what I was concerned with at the time. Anyway, I am thinking of wrapping this one up, just because I want to keep moving and maybe build a nicer/fuller room or an object next. So I ...

That sunlight through the window did wonders! I think it will look good with or without a tree shadow.

Should those drawers be resting on the bottom of their slots (less black space at the bottom that at the top)? Maybe they are really fancy draws on high quality runners. I don't know.

Hmm, try exporting again, but this time, have "sep. mats" selected so you can look at the material xml. This may help you troubleshoot where the problem is occurring. Is it possible that the bump map is interfering with the visibility of the exponent? I'm also wondering why you want and exponent of ...

Hey, looking very nice! I really like the detail in the wooden trim at the bottom of the wall. Maybe a little beveling there on the corner? If I were to change anything with the cabinet itself, I would make the hardware a little more robust. Also, I was under the impression that that top molding you...

Hey, very nice! It reminds me of ulexite, affectionately known as TV rock. You should try to make some of that. It would also be interesting to put a pane of one of those frosty glass materials (how do they do that?) in between the end of the fibers and the camera.
