actually the new rendering api can be used with indigo, just it wont be interactive, it will have to use the archiving features. there is more to the rendering api than just viewing the image inside xsi. it presents the relevant data to you more easily, you do less scene traversing, instead xsi give...

thanks Dues for you response i am trying not to sound like an asshole. but i had developed an XSI exporter for indigo as early as february last year. it never made public consumption because of indigo's constantly changing scene description lang and the fact that i need to work :) i could easily pos...

[REQ] Indigo API

i had mentioned before on another thread the idea of building scenes in memory. i just wanted to put it in here so it would be associated with a request and not just a post in the general forum. i hope nick could provide an API for indigo so i can build scenes straight to memory and skip the archive...

@ rgigante have you compiled a renderer plugin for xsi v6 yet? let me know how it is going for you. I have compiled an empty renderer and everything is legit but I must be missing something because it still doesn't show in the "render engine" drop down. one of the devs, Halfdan, will be putting some...

No one really knows where indigo is going to go development wise except you so... if this is doable kinda something you keep in mind as you develop it. exposing the functions in a C/C++ API to control building the scene. then i could develop it as a plugin for XSI. Which would take advantage of rend...

exactly riccardo! the export times are never fun, even with .mi files with mentalray and .rib files with PRMan. i figure with new XSI v6 rendering framework updates, we should be able to hook into render passes and the render region. but ultimately we would need indigo to have an API. which isn't an...

building scenes in memory...

hey nick i am interested in skipping the .xml format and using C/C++ API calls to indigo to create a scene to render in memory, what do you think? much like PRMan and mentalray you can build the scene in memory using functions like mi_api_camera_begin(); and mi_api_material_begin(); i am unsure of t...

i think this shows intel still doesn't have a clue...

it was a clock speed race for them for the longest time. AMD has been smarter with their speeds and have proven themselves. now its the core race.. who can make more and more cores, so instead of being innovative...
