It's not Exif comments either. Really? Because I'm setting the "JPEG Exif comments" in kde, and they are appearing in GIMP under 'comments'. and apparently only reads it's -own- comments; Not for me, see the attached image. [edit removed beacuse it's huge, will compress and re-up] [edit 2: re-upped]

It is the comments in the exif data, if you want to first check you're writing properly to the files.
