64-bit. All the recent processors from Intel have been 64-bit... from Prescott on... for mobiles it's been from Celeron M. Today's machines will be Meron or Penryn Core 2 Duos. Definitely 64-bit. As to why they don't ship them with 64-bit OS installed, how many people are buying PCs just to edit the...

sick of memorizing scale ratios!

Hey, got tired of looking up conversion ratios, made a little hack. (I intentionally left WorldScale & WorldScaleExp exposed and updating; you can move them but they'll snap back, unless you pick 'manually set')

Code: Select all

diff -Nabur blendigo_v115.py blendigo_v115.py > diff

lol ignore him, he trolls the threads for anything he can find to complain about. translucent emitters work just fine, and besides you'll want to see your fire, what's the point of invisible fire anyway? :)

What kind of fire scene did you have in mind?

'Fire' - that's completely vague. There's hundreds (thousands?) of types of fire effects. If you mean fire as in the sense of one of the Blender tutorial animated fires, then no, not very easily. You'll have to model your flames. You'll have to have a fire texture to UV map to your flames, and make ...

 Ah, you're not a fellow knifegeek. :( I thought you owned it, or at least one similiar. What motivated you to randomly model a knife? I gotta ask. Well, the one you show as your ref image looks to be a Wenger Commander or possibly a Backpacker... basically their ripoff of the Victorinox Sp...

Uhm.... err... big whoops. How come I'm the only one who's noticed it's backwards ? There's no blade stop! You have the bolster plates (the slotted channels) facing the back side, and you have the finger indent in the plastic top cover facing the back edge of the main blade. That's one seriou...

If no one else contributes thats how it will stay 8) If you dislike what I have done feel free to redo i...

Yea, like you and me and probably half the people here, we all have Gigs of the stuff. The problem is, at least for me, I got them from whereever I could. I'm not sure of their copyright status. If you don't remember the fiasco Kator Legaz went through with the Blender Mesh Repository last year, it ...

If you don't consider pursuing a career as a quality assurance lunatic, you'll really be wasting those skills CCJ. heh you're both nik's best troubleshooter and worst nightmare in one. :-) Excellent examples. (I dig the metallized version of the wooden posing mannequin)

The problem with image-based textures UV'd onto a mesh is that it is not transportable in the least. It only looks good on the mesh you set it up for. It's not like you can build a material library out of such things; each and every time you use it (much less anyone else) , you have to properly unwr...

Heh no, we're having a communication breakdown. I understand he/you stuffed an exif tag onto a PNG, but that's not a PNG comment, that was the point. PNG uses label:data tEXt pairs as I outlined back on page 1... and gimp doesn't display PNG comment tags.

moot point, nik's done with it. :D

Update update: working fine. Skip to EDIT. Yea got it. The way nik outlined it works fine, once I fixed the IoR of the air. Thanks for the renders, though. It's lookin good now. The colors change with more material the light has to pass through? Cool. Frustrating trying to eyeball an exact color & ...

ARGHHHHHHH!!!!!!! You stole my thunder! sorry, go back a month or so. I've been working on making it Indigo-compatible for a while. Your precedences are all wrong. try this: Outer cylinder glass: 2 main water: 1 droplet glass: 12 droplet air bubble: 10 droplet liquid: 11 Great, there's my new sig. Firing one off as the above. If this works, I guess I need more instruction re: precedence and displacement than what the WIP manual...
