Re: Volumetric light or god rays

Hey there! You first need a light source with parallel light rays (sun, or a concentrated light source). Then you need a massive scattering volume, in which your camera resides. This could be a giant cube, encompassing your whole scene, with a volumetric material (start from specular material with I...

Otherwise it would be a real pity for this nice renderer.
Not just "nice", THE BEST! I know how you feel, I had to change main render engine, and feel so ill, like my wife left me. Lol, I'm going crazy...FOR INDIGO!

Re: CoolColJ's test pics thread

Awesome looking light effects! That's why I always loved BiDirMLT, it just has that WOW effect. As for the limiting the depth to 99, are you trying to say that by capping the max_path_depth to 99 you got a clearer result in a much faster time with cpu? Like, you managed to cap the depth of the rays ...

Re: Tabulated reflection values

Shouldn't you be able to recreate the tabulated data in the tabulated tab<-absorption, from the medium of your specular shader?

Also, that private data is just 401 values from 380 to 780nm in the scale close to 24.

Re: Does contribution clamping introduce bias ?

I know, right?! :D

Did you try GPU with bigger depth numbers? Man, I can't wait til they add BiDirMLT to GPU for those nice caustics...

Re: Does contribution clamping introduce bias ?

It sure does:

Please note that, since it is clamping bright spots, it introduces bias into the render. Because of this it will be off by default. However it's a useful tool for artists, to remove fireflies from their images in a simple and efficient way.

Re: Photomatch and Beauty Center

Look nice, just a quick tip, if you have more photos from the scene, you could use multiple camera projections of those images onto your simple geo in the scene, to get realistic, contextual reflections, especially if you have glass surface, like the window panes.

Re: Indigo Renderer 4.6.0 Beta Release

Hmmm, that scene is heavy on the export, dunno why. But that really doesn't matter. Just by looking at your two renders, I can tell that the one has much more samples then the other, focusing on the caustics on the bottom left side. You can see it gets a lot clearer, and there is a lot more energy i...

How long did you render these two frames, per frame/sampling round?

MLT with Bidir mode fixed? Because it's been broken since version 4
What do you mean? On GPU?

Re: is anybody there!

Yes, if you have a lot of refractions, reflections etc., the best way to go is to use MLTBiDir. For now, it's only CPU, like Headroom said, but in future, we hope to see MLT implemented on the GPU renderer! :D That would be a day to behold!
