Re: How to render?
Wow. That's amazing :P I remember watching the video that Bubs sent last week.... the indigo tutorial.... but I must have glazed over watching it cos it was'nt relevant to my workflow at the time. Every day I do some work on the model and do some research as a break. And I have learnt so much. Yet, ...

Re: How to render?
It would be good if someone could post a list of CG terms cos I don't understand what people are talking about alot of the time
What are dummies?
How do you make them? Or do you download them?

Re: How to render?
Bubs.... I am going to use Photoshop for the trees and stuff. But what concerns me about this is shadows....if I use trees in SU they will cast shadows onto the model... which is good.... but in PS I will have to BUrn Tool the shadows on....or is there another way? I was thinking of putting low res ...

Re: How to render?
Thanks guys. And yes, I agree with what you said on the whole Bosseye about keeping things simple. I have a couple of months to create a good portfolio or I might have to go back into full time work....teaching  So I want to do the best I can to give myself a fair chance. In the UK I would hav...

Re: The Cosmonaut
Very inspiring and artistic. Should be in a gallery cos it makes you think about the image.... and that's what it's all about.

Re: Creative flair rendering style....
You can use the same software....Magic Bullet Photolooks Software as a Photoshop plugin. They do it for AE for animation like you mentioned. Apparently Alex Roman uses a warm and cold colour CRUSH combined to get an effect. This info I picked up from the net in the last two weeks. Another great plug...

Re: How to render?
I feel comfortable with Sketchup. But, when I look on the net it seems 3Ds is the way to go if you really want to achieve good results. I have 3Ds on my computer but I need one to one tuition to learn it cos I cannot get to grips with it. I found a site: http://archive3d.net/ They specialize in (FRE...

Re: Creative flair rendering style....
My avatar is a painting (Oil). I hope to combine Indigo with Fine Art somehow. Indigo software is doing all the work. Yes, you tweak buttons and talk shop.... and get realistic results.... but that's dull. You have to bring something of yourself to the genre. Something new. Eventually the renders w...

Re: How to render?
Thanks for your support. I have not used Indigo for more than 1 minute so far. Indigo for me is the icing on the cake. A new toy that I cannot wait to play with. At the moment it's the hard slog of making the model. Yes, it is a big project. I think I have bitten off more than I can chew. I noticed ...

Re: Using Photoshop for Post Processing....
He talks about how to get the best from your final image whether your a CG designer or a photographer. He's from Blackpool in the UK so he gets right to the point without flowering things up with tech talk. I like that. At the end of the day it's not about software.... it's about your own unique cre...

Using Photoshop for Post Processing....
I found this guy (David Nightingale) really good if you want to cut through the crap and get right to the heart of what matters in post processing. He breaks everything down into simple terms that anyone can understand.... and it's refreshing

I did not understand what you said....could you explain it more simply. ThanksCTZn wrote:hey just a note, probably off topic: IIRC, camera profiles files are editable somehow, and the shading language would allow some cell-like effects.

Re: How to render?
Personally I only model/texture what will be in the final render. All of my building exteriors are like old film sets, those areas facing the camera are modeled and textured, anything else is just a prop to set up the main scene, unless it forms part of a reflection. There seems to be little point ...

Re: Arroway Materials
Hi, This is the way I use to work with wood textures: An easy example would be a pine plank texture and a natural/waxed finish looking. -First I place the diffuse map in sketchup. Verify scale of the model and scale of the wood (how long your board should be in relation of the texture). Then set th...
