Re: AMD 6 core

Just to correct myself, PCI-e 3.O is actually going to support HyperTransport protocol too: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/other/display/20100624234933_PCI_SIG_to_Start_Testing_PCI_Express_3_0_Products_in_Early_2011.html "In 2008 Advanced Micro Devices and Hewlett Packard proposed a number of extensio...

Re: AMD 6 core

Apparently (based on Google search), AMD has something called Hypertransport interconnect technology associated with HTX connector (vs PCIe). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HyperTransport http://www.hypertransport.org/docs/pres/HTX_vs_PCI_Final-2-22-06.pdf And this HTX connectivity "Eliminates Bandwid...

Re: AMD 6 core

There is an article about AMD Fusion and discrete GPUs on AMD blog: http://blogs.amd.com/play/2010/08/06/amd-discrete-graphics-gpus-fusion-apu/ It says: "So, to finally answer the question whether discrete GPUs will die, the answer is: Hell No. AMD relies on our ability to generate world-class discr...

I agree. When I think about it, who needs to replicate real spider anyway. It's better looking this way.

Re: Green jumping spider

Hi,dakiru. The head and the legs of a spider are made of the same materials. Its "skin" (exoskeleton) is colorless polymer (chitin) made of microfibres, which are laid down in four different layers with the fibres in each layer having a slightly different orientation. Below this is the layer of sell...

Re: Green jumping spider

Yes, since it is such a nice and impressive (especially for me) work, I just wanted it to be even better! Otherwise i wouldn't comment at all.

Re: Green jumping spider

Hi, dakiru! May I contribute some biology correctness to your reconstruction  (I am very close relative to a biology student, so I am sort of informed) The spider is missing a mouth (this brown stuff that hidden behind its jaws in front of its head). Its jaws should be bigger (they are for gra...

Re: Indigo Renderer GPU acceleration

Hi!
Is it possible to use one GPU for compute and the other one for display?
(I have Nvidia Quadro FX 1500 (no CUDA support) and wonder if I still can make some use of it.)

Re: Indigo Renderer 2.4.2 Released

Thank you for the answers. I should add more RAM. As for the rendering speed in the future with GPU solution for ray intersections, would CPU still matter that much (2 or 20 hours)? May be I should wait and buy a better GPU instead?

Re: Indigo Renderer 2.4.2 Released

OK! Thanks for explanation.
I have Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz CPU. Is it enough for staff like tonemapping and material calculations for somebody with limited resources ( I am a rendering newbie)?
Thanks in advance for the answer.
Gene.

Re: Indigo Renderer 2.4.2 Released

I just want to correct myself. Speaking of OpenCl support, according to this article I’ve just found: “OpenCL: democracy for GPU computing?” http://www.behardware.com/articles/744-1/opencl-democracy-for-gpu-computing.html “OpenCL…is a common language for any architecture. It hasn’t only been designe...
