Improved exporters and documentation

We have been working hard in the past month to increase the quality and speed of our exporters. Cinema 4D in particular has had many improvements, including outputting C4D procedural materials. Read more about Cindigo.

Blendigo has been improved with binary mesh output which makes both Blender and Indigo much faster when used with large scenes. We have also updated our installers for Windows, Mac and Linux and fixed bugs that some people were experiencing with previewing materials.

Google SketchUp users are looked after with a few upgrades to SkIndigo, including better material import, integration with the online material database (to be released soon) and automatic detection of backfaces. If you've ever thought of rendering with SketchUp and Indigo, you should give it a try now, these improvements have made Indigo much easier to use with your SketchUp scenes.

And finally, 3DS Max users have access to the new versions of Maxigo 2.0. See our forum for the latest builds of Maxigo, which has seen many improvements since the old Indigo 1.0 days.

Last 30 Indigo Lifetime Licences

Are you thinking of buying and Indigo Licence? With a licenced version of Indigo you can use Indigo 2.0 with no resolution limits and no watermarks.

We have sold over 60 Indigo Lifetime Licences and have about 30 left. These licences will give you free upgrades to all future versions of Indigo. They also come with two free network render licences, so that you can use your spare computers to speed up render time.

Finally – if you decide to move to another computer, you can email us and we will reset your licence so you can use it on a new computer. All this for the introductory price of 295 euro.

So if you want to get in early and have free updates to all future versions of a fast growing renderer, you should visit the store and purchase a licence.

Indigo Competition

The August-September Competition is a very interesting one. We're going to remove the boring example scenes that come with Indigo, and replace them with scenes that show off the power and realism of Indigo. All three winning scenes will be included in subsequent Indigo distributions.

The prizes are:

1st prize: Indigo 2.0 license, Indigo T-shirt, forum badge
2nd prize: Indigo T-shirt, forum badge
3rd prize: forum badge

Material Editor and Blender 2.5

We have a bunch of developments in the pipeline for Indigo. One of the big developments is a standalone material editor.

The material editor allows you to quickly create, edit and modify Indigo materials. It has seamless integration with the online material database and has an accelerated preview method. We are working hard to make this one of the easiest and most powerful pieces of technology we have created. We hope to have a beta test of the editor available in 1 or 2 weeks.

As well as the material editor – we have a few new plugins in the pipeline, including a Blender 2.5 exporter that is a complete rewrite of our Blendigo exporter. It will have integrated rendering support as well, so you can render completely within Blender. The Blender 2.5 exporter will of course be available free to all Indigo Lifetime licence holders.

Ranch support for Indigo 2.0

Ranch Computing, our preferred renderfarm provider has upgraded their renderfarm to Indigo 2.0. If you need more render power than you have in house - their render solution is easy, fast and competitively priced.
