Download the three SkIndigo 0.9 tutorials here written by yours truly. They are to be used with SkIndigo 0.9 and Indigo 0.9. All tutorials are in SKP format. You need SketchUp 6 to view them.

EDIT: Tutorials are out of date and have been removed. Tutorials for the latest version of SkIndigo are available in the 'Downloads' section of the website.

great tutorial, thanks

a couple of observations:
1. the final scene only rendered correctly for me if i had the material in uv index#3 showing in sketchup when i exported. if this is the way its supposed to work you may want to add that info to your tutorial.

2. would it be possible for you to implement some form of indication when texture has been assigned to uv index? maybe somthing like in posted screen shot or have the material name updated with an extension like uv0 etc... not complaining but the way it is i'll need to keep a notepad beside me. very confusing. :wink:

anyway, just a thought.

A couple of ideas:
1) You have the light material applied to the backface
2) You have the light material inside an instanced component
3) You have the environment set to Sun and Sky and the light material is not bright enough to be visible. If so, try increasing the Watts or Efficacy.

If this doesn't help you, please provide a more detailed description of the problem or post the SKP file. Thx.

SSS seems to be broken in Indigo 0.9 (as of this writing). Try using a uniform scattering coefficient (eg. enter 500 in the Scattering Spectrum Field) That should work.

Hey Whaat!

I am using your scene that you provided in the tutorial. This is what I did, I selected the light, right clicked on to it and then selected a 100 watt light. I then when to scene settings and selected black background. And hit render, after about 13 minutes everything on the wall remained black.

Works fine for me!
I assume you double-checked to confirm that the material was properly assigned. What are the settings for the material if you open the material editor? It should be:
Power=100W
OLE=17.5 lm/W
Temp=2800K
Maybe some settings got messed up somehow.

Nope, its exactly what you have and I did it exactly the way you said it. What test build of Indigo are you using?

the test build shouldnt matter unless there is a serious bug in indigo.
Try playing around with the lamp settings, and see if the black render persists.

I am using 0.9test4. I recall a possible meshlight bug in an early build of Indigo 0.9. Make sure you are using 0.9 test 4 and make DOUBLE sure that the text file in your SketchUp/Plugins directory called "Indigo_09t4_path.txt" is pointing to the correct version of Indigo. If not, delete this file and reload SketchUp.
