**EDIT**
I now just tryed for myself to do a NeatImage Profile, by rendering a white Plane illuminated by a background with blackbody and 6500 temperature.

Now I started to creat a Profil of the result, and adjusted the Filter Preset
(the default one trade the RGB chanels different, optimized vor DigiCams,
also Indigo just produces high frequencie Noise)

Here are the Files: Profile + Preset

** EDIT 2 **
You can find two Examples HERE
(I hope you two guys have no Problem by using your stuff?!)

The Profile just reduces B&W Noise, not RGB Noise done bye Caustic & Dispersion!!!
I think it does the Job very well!
You are invited to test it with your Indigo Rendered Pictures ,
A conversation from PNG to TIFF is needed, because NI doesn't read PNG's :roll:

** EDIT 3 **
Don't use the "auto-fine-tune" & "auto-complete" options after loading the Profile, you get the best result keeping it default!!!

Please C&C!

Zom, I think something like this would be a great advantage! (http://www.neatimage.com/ is the link, for those like me who didn't know what he was talking about.) A little googling turned up "Filters" (http://filters.sourceforge.net/), a free library that perhaps Nick could link directly in to from Indigo... ? :wink: (Better may be those working on a GUI...)

Another thot, and I know this means shifting Indigo in the "biased" direction, but it'd be great if there were a noise "detector" that could be set to scan after a certain period of time, and based on its results, Indigo would then concentrate its refinements on those portions of the image that have higher noise levels. Been discussed before, I know... Not the desired direction for a true MLT app, I know... I just hate seeing those CPU cycles used up on refining areas of an image that don't really need any more refining, from a visual standpoint. Maybe as an option?

yeah would be realy cool to see something like that interatable into GUI's done by some Members!
BTW: is anybody working on a GUI atm???

What a wounderfull Idea!!! Some kind of "inteligance" where to use the CPU Time best would be very very very nice!

Hey Zom-B,

This looks very promising .... Neatimage doesn't really work without
a profile... that what i thought at least for me... ;(

So this is a very good idea...

cheer

Yeah, I was suprised how good this Prifile works...
Indigo does the Monte Carlo / metropolis light transport Random thing, so we get some very random Noise,
this Noise is so random, that it allways look very similar :wink:
I'll check out the NeatImage Help soon, if the Profile could be optimized even more...

@Nick
You are invited to take this Files and distribute them Together with your next Indigo release :)

try this on Kerkythea Bidirectional Pathtracing mode..

Feel free to mail me at .. u3dreal att googlemail doty com...

Hey u3dreal...

Here ist the XML for the Scene, its no Secret about it ;)
The scene is quite simple, it aims to create an unique illuminated white Plane, without vignetting.
Code:
<scene>
  <renderer_settings>
    <width>480</width>
    <height>480</height>
  </renderer_settings>

  <background>
    <spectrum>
      <blackbody>
        <temperature>6500</temperature>
        <gain>1.0</gain>
      </blackbody>
    </spectrum>
  </background>

  <camera>
        <!--Global Pos/Size Multiplier: 0.010000-->
        <pos>0 0 22</pos>
        <up>0 0 0</up>
        <forwards>0 0 -1</forwards>
        <aperture_radius>0.001</aperture_radius>
        <focus_distance>22</focus_distance>
        <sensor_width>0.036</sensor_width>
        <lens_sensor_dist>0.1</lens_sensor_dist>
        <aspect_ratio>1</aspect_ratio>
        <white_balance>D65</white_balance>
    </camera>

<!-- Ground Material -->
    <material>
        <name>ground</name>
      <diffuse>
      <colour>1 1 1</colour>
   </diffuse>
    </material>

<!-- Ground Plane  -->
   <plane>
      <normal>0 0 1</normal>
      <dist>0</dist>
         <material_name>ground</material_name>
   </plane>
</scene>

Thanks Zom-B,

about how long did you render that scene ?

just to get an idea of how much noise was left..
Will try that right away.. :D

cheers
