installation not working?

Post by klevine » Tue Aug 24, 2010 1:44 pm

Hi there. I downloaded Indigo and the Revit exporter today, but can't seem to get them to work. In fact, I can't see anything Indigo-related within Revit. I'm not quite sure what I could be doing wrong, since I'm following the instructions that were given.

I downloaded and installed the correct version (32 bit for Revit 2010). I installed Indigo first, then the exporter.
In Indigo, I've opened some of the test scenes, which seem to be working. But in Revit, I can't find anything resembling "Render in Indigo."

I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but still see nothing.

I would love to give this a shot! Can anybody help?

(I'll happily provide more info - just not sure what would be useful in this situation)

Thank you!

Hey klevine,

A new Beta 3 version was announced a day ago, with enhanced installer: http://www.indigorenderer.com/node/1076

Maybe this works out for you :)

Klevine,

I'm wondering if you were able to figure out a solution to get it installed? I'm having the same problem on a Windows 7 Machine with Revit 2010 and 2011 installed. After I run the installer, and point to the Revit 2010 program directory, I get a meesage that the installation is complete, but I don't have any Indigo tools available on the ribbon in Revit 2010.

Klevine, Chuck,

Sorry for the delay, I have completely overlooked this post. Can you post you Revit.ini files from the "Revit 2010/Program" folder? You may have to run the installer as admin.

Also, have you installed Indigo for Revit with the same user account you are using it with? If not, have you selected "Install for all users" in the installer?

I tried installing to "All Users" and "Just Me" and it did not show up with either. I have local admin rights. Below is the text from my revit.ini Thanks in advance for taking a look!

Also, I confirmed that C:\Program Files\Indigo for Revit\AddIndigoMenu2010.dll
does exist on the machine. So, it looks like it installed locally, it's just not loading into Revit for some reason.

Hey Chuck,

thank you for posting the revit.ini. Everything seems to be set up correnctly, but I still don't have an idea what the problem might be.

Good(?) news though: I managed to reproduce this behavior just now. Indigo for Revit just started doing the same thing :)

Well, that's a start! :D Let me know if you have any luck getting it to show up in your ribbon. I'd really love to test it out.

Hey Chuck,

I found the issue and uploaded a new version. I will email you the links in a minute.

To anyone else: the links have been updated on the Revit Download section (unfortunately you'd have to fill out the form again).

Can't run Indigo from Revit... after the inatallation there is no "AddIndigoMenu2010.dll"... neither a Indigo for Revit folder...

I'm using Revit 2010 spanish version.

Anyone can help?

Best Regards.

Finally it works... but when I'm in a camera view the "Render with Indigo" turn grey so I can't click on it.

If I click in a normal view there is an error msg "No 3D View found in the document" and the exporting progress bar freeze, but I have a couple of camera views in the project navigator!... could be because of the spanish version of revit?.

If I click in "Indigo render settings" there is an error related to Net Framework "InvalidArgument0Value of '0' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'."

Thanks.

Hey juanosborne,

glad you got it working! What was the problem?

You have to select a camera in the Indigo settings dialog before you can render a scene.

About the error you get when you open the settings dialog:
This is an issue that I really need to fix. If you just click "continue" in the error dialog it will work and the error will not show up again.

Regards,
Yves

Hi fuse!,

Well, the first problem was related to my rights in the system... and my clumsiness :-(

Now I can't select any cam in the settings dialog. It looks like Indigo can't detect any cam in my Spanish Revit. Perhaps it's due to the 'InvalidArgument0Value ' error?

Thank you very much!

Hey,

thats strange that the cameras are not detected in the Spanish Revit. I'm having a look at that right now...

Thank you for the report!

juanosborne,

I fixed that issue that the cameras were not found for the next release. We are going to release an update in a few days.

Regards,
Yves
