Preset values for renderings

Post by subpixel » Fri Jul 02, 2010 8:39 am

Hi all,

While working on IndigoMax settings, I came to point where I'd like to implement some presets. So I've added two preset combos: Scene type (indoor, outdoor) and Render quality (low, medium, high). Combination of these two is supposed to set all renderer parameters (or a good starting point).

Well, I have some intuition what setting should be appropriate for these six cases, however I'd like to ask what do you think about this.
Parameters that are ought to be touched are:
  • metropolis
  • large_mutation_prob
  • max_change
  • max_depth
  • max_num_consec_rejections
  • bidirectional
  • hybrid
  • super_sample_factor
  • ray_origin_nudge_distance(?)
  • aperture_diffraction
  • post_process_diffraction
  • disregard dispersion (exporter param)
  • any other that I've forgot.
Do you have any favourite values or a good starting point values? I would be most grateful for any suggestions and directions. Thanks in advance

Hi

I believe default values are good.
I keep aperture diffraction on and post process diffraction off.
super sample factor 2-3.

Hey,

What do you think about these values:
  • [Indoor settings] | low | medium | high
  • metropolis | TRUE | TRUE | TRUE
  • large_mutation_prob | 0.1 | 0.2 | 0.4
  • max_change | 0.001 | 0.005 | 0.01
  • max_depth | 100 | 1000 | 10000
  • max_num_consec_rejections | 50 | 500 | 1000
  • bidirectional | FALSE | TRUE | TRUE
  • hybrid | TRUE | TRUE | FALSE
  • super_sample_factor | 1 | 2 | 3
  • aperture_diffraction | FALSE | TRUE | TRUE
  • post_process_diffraction | TRUE | TRUE | FALSE
  • disregard dispersion | TRUE | TRUE | FALSE
  • [outdoor settings] | low | medium | high
  • metropolis | FALSE | FALSE | TRUE
  • large_mutation_prob | 0 | 0 | 0.4
  • max_change | 0 | 0 | 0.01
  • max_depth | 100 | 1000 | 10000
  • max_num_consec_rejections | 50 | 500 | 1000
  • bidirectional | FALSE | FALSE | TRUE
  • hybrid | TRUE | TRUE | FALSE
  • super_sample_factor | 1 | 2 | 3
  • aperture_diffraction | FALSE | TRUE | TRUE
  • post_process_diffraction | TRUE | TRUE | FALSE
  • disregard dispersion | TRUE | TRUE | FALSE
It seems that formatting is pretty much gone, but I hope you'll know what i mean.
Comments are most welcome.

I have no idea, but Indigo Technical Reference will help u out + experimenting with test scene.

For 300 dpi print u dont need super samples.
