Phong material problem

Post by Rafaello » Sat Jul 19, 2008 8:32 am

Hi, I have a problem in 3ds max 9 with the Indigo phong material, it tells that there is an error with difusse color in maxigo script and the preview in the material window just show a shiny ball. I use Maxigo 1.09.6 and when I render the scene the material appears fine but I have to make trial and error rendering a plane until I tune the material to the right settings and then apply to the model.

Hey,
Are you using a texture map or only color?
Also when do you get the error message? When you try to render a material preview?
Maybe you can make a screenshot of the error?

Hello suvakas, the error appears after I change the default scanline material and select the Indigo phong material and before I could touch any of the settings, next monday I'll post the screenshot.

Thanks.

By the way... Great job, congratulations.

I'll check for other errors in the weekend and tell you about it, I also tried the 1.1.5 version and when I import a material or create a new one, same result.

Hello again, here are the images of the exceptions I found in phong and glass materials, and when I select a blend material the preview window doesn't work.
I hope they can be useful.

Wow, something is really messed up there.
I have no idea of what is going on or what's causing it :?
I would have to debug the script on your workstation, then maybe I could find something, but for now.. sry, I'm affraid I can't help.

Did you install the maxigo correctly? (probably a stupid question)
Do you have any plugins installed?
Is the "Standard" material type still there? Maxigo is based on "Standard" material type.
I'm out of ideas...

Hi suvakas, I have installed fryrender and maxwellrender plugins, I don't know if there is a problem with one or both of them, as I said before the preview for phong and glass materials works fine but the blend material preview doesn't, but I don't think this is a big problem because the render works fine, I will clean up my PC and install all over again and then I will tell you what happened.
thank you.

Hello suvakas, I'm using Indigo 1.1.7 with maxigo 1.1.5 and those script errors were gone. I guess the problem was in Indigo, because with this beta release everything in maxigo works fine.
