yeah... i'm working on it.
What do you guys think, how i should implement the new diffuse transmitter material? Should i add it as a new material type or should i put it under some of the existing materials?
I'm thinking, that there are quite many materials already. Would it be logical if i add it to somewhere under the existing SSS material ? Cause the effect is quite similar to sss effect.
Or do you have any better ideas?
Let me know what do you think!

SSS material in max is basically a medium/specular material.
Well..i thought about adding it under diffuse mat too, but i'm not sure if this is the right spot.
I want to place it so that it seems logical and user friendly. I think the effect looks like sss (does it?) so puting it as an option under Specular/SSS seems like a good spot. But i'm really not sure.
There are 7 Maxigo materials already. I think, that there is no need for another one. Might get a bit too "crowded" (if you know what i mean).
So..would be good to hear some users opinions on this....

I'd do a single Indigo_Material if I'd write my own 3dsmax-exporter,
then made a dropdown menu(in example, maybe a radiobutton...) and added there new materials as they are developed. There I'd add a preset-mode for quick selecting often-used materials.
I can make a scripted interface for it if Suvakas will not be against.
Suvakas's material system is good, maybe just too complex for quick use... And simplification of the process is my goal.

I tried to do it at the very beginning of my little project, but i failed. My problem was, that i couldn't find a method of how to change material interface according to what is selected in drop-down menu. I just don't know the maxscript so well and the help file can sometimes be quite confusing.vansan wrote:I'd do a single Indigo_Material if I'd write my own 3dsmax-exporter,

I still think, that this would be the best way to organize the materials. I don't like the growing number of separate materials at all.
