IndigoMax 0.3.5

Post by subpixel » Fri Oct 04, 2013 10:58 am

Hello all,

Here's another version of IndigoMax. This release is mainly a bugfix version. There are still quite a few to go. So stay tuned.

Changes:
  • Improved default values and ranges for double-sided thin.
  • Improved viewport display of materials.
  • Fixed: Lens shift spinbox should be units of mm, not metres
  • Introduced coordinates generation to Indigo Texture
  • Environment map can now be set up correctly using spherical coordinates
  • Done: Instead of disabling sun+sky lighting when no sun node is selected, made it just use a default direction.
  • Made the default scene export path be in my documents, e.g. C:\Users\nick\Documents\IndigoMax_untitled.igs
  • Made Launch Indigo checkbox in export settings true by default.
  • Improved default values and UI for Indigo Material
  • Fixed: Amount for blend param affects texture 'b' for blend material
  • Fixed: Crash when switching between materials in Slate editor
  • Updated many labels to be clearer / easier to understand, and added many tooltips.
  • Fix for specular->internal_medium being NULL, causing uncaught exception when rendering specular mats.
  • Made the background light a bit brighter, so it's visible for specular mat previews etc..
  • Set various default light layers to zero instead of 1.
  • Fixed missing reading of Phong IOR spinbox.
  • Fixed issue with disabling default lights
  • Improved default lights to use quads.
  • Fixed crashing and incompleteness issues with material previews.
  • Fixed crash with scenes with particles (temporary solution)
  • Done: Listed NK files for specular materials.
Download:
Indigo 3.6.23 for 3dsmax
Indigo RT 3.6.23 for 3dsmax

Notes:
Versions: max2011 / 2012 / 2013 / 2014 64bit.
This version renders material previews with short halt time, it gives relatively fast response, but results with low sampling for more complex materials. This issue will be addressed with separate preview window in future versions.

Hope for some comments, suggestions and descriptive bug reports. Please post them in this thread or send PM.

Cheers,
Jake

That's an awesome update! It runs really nicely, rendering starts instantly :D The default lights and material previews are looking great.

[*][/b] Using camera tonemapping results in error: "Failed to find node with UID 4294967295" The error occurs with all rendering modes except export. Wasn't present in previous build.
- Changing the tonemapping back to linear/reinhard leaves the camera settings in the rollout rather than changing to the selected tonemapping settings.
- Opening a scene that already had camera tonemapping set renders without error (all modes) and all the menus work as expected.

[*][/b] The skylight checkbox on the environment map seems to be inverted. You have to un-check the box to turn on the sun/sky.

My RT version doesn't work. It warning that my indigo license is RT and have to redownload the RT version when i hit render button although I downloaded it from "Indigo RT 3.6.23 for 3dsmax" link.

Still looks like like a bug.. max 2012

Open max
change rendering engine to indigo
press M for material editor (this is opening up the compact editor)
Crash.

Couldn't replicate it. Please perform a clean install of IndigoMax to ensure there's no conflict with previous version.

Suggestion: Environment map coordinates should be set to "spherical" rather than "spherical environment". The environment maps I have collected over the years all render properly as "spherical".

Would it be possible to choose the environment map image file directly from the environment map settings bypassing the bitmap map? You could include the coordinate types (UV, Spherical, Spherical environment) in the rollout. Opening the file directly rather than via a bitmap map would also remove the annoying lag (sometimes 10-20 seconds) that 3dsmax suffers trying to preview a large HDR file.

[*] Indigo material previews don't render when the material has maps with UV Map Channel > 1
[*] Receive error "Failed to find node with UID 4294967295" when using specular materials - This doesn't happen the first time rendering, only the second, third, fourth, etc. Error doesn't occur when exporting.

Sure, I'll make a change for standard bitmap.
Please be advised that most of functionality you're referring to should be available with Indigo Texture Map. Have you tried it? If there's a need I could add a switch for disabling map preview for it, however I cannot do it for standard bitmap.

Fixed for next release

Have you tried Indigo DoubleSided material?
